Jets win franchise best 11th straight with victory over the senators

Winnipeg Jets won his franchise record 11th match in a row with a 4-1 victory over the Ottawa senators on Wednesday evening.

Kyle Connor had a goal and an assist and Mark Scheifele, Cole Perfetti and Mason Appleton also did for Jets. Connor Hellebuyck made 24 rescues.

Defender Thomas Chabot did for the Senators, who lost his fifth match in a row. Linus Ullmark stopped 35 shots.

Winnipeg led 2-0 after the first period and made twice in a 1:17 span.

Perfetti opened the score 7:46 into the game when he tipped in Nikolaj Ehler’s shot/pass after a turnover of Ottawas Tim Stutzle in his own zone. Ehlers directed the puck at the net from the left point.

Appleton did at 9:03 when he went into a puck that was next to Ullmark’s right cushion after the goalkeeper had saved on Nino Niederreiter’s shot.

Connor’s 31st goal of the season gave Jets a 3-0 lead 8:04 in the second period. He scored on a wrist shot from the bottom of the left circle.

But Chabot put Ottawa on the board 49 seconds later when his shot from the left circle outside Rush Beat Hellebuyck. Stutzle got Lone Assist to stretch his score to 10 matches (three goals, 11 assists for 14 points).

The senators killed as a result of a whole two -minute, two -man disadvantage and a one -man’s short situation in the middle of the second period.

Scheifele added an empty net target with 2:56 left. It was his 33rd goal and second in two games

Ottawa defender Tyler Kleven left the game during the second period with a lower bodily injury. He fought Winnipeg captain Adam Lowry 6:41 into the game. Kleven went to the dressing room later during the first period before returning shortly in the second.

The Senators Captain Brady Tkachuk missed his second game with a lower bodily injury. Ottawa was also without centers Josh Norris (mid -body injury) and Shane Pinto (upper body injury).
