Jordan Morris scored his 87th career goal in all competitions and broke the Franchise record, when Seattle Sounders defeated to visit Los Angeles FC 5-2 on Saturday afternoon.
Albert Rusnak had one goal and two assists and Paul Rothrock had one of each for Sounders (1-1, 4 points). Kalani Kossa-Rienzi and Cristian Roldan also counted for Sounders.
Nathan Ordaz and David Martinez made for LAFC (2-1-0, 6 points), which had not allowed a goal in their previous two MLS matches.
Morri’s record target came in the 77th minute. Rothrock got the ball in the upper right corner of the 18-yard box and made a short pass for Morris, which made a diagonal drive through the penalty area. Morris put the ball through goalkeeper Thomas Hasal’s leg from the right edge of the 6-yard box. Morris broke a tie with former teammate Raul Ruidiaz for the franchisee brand.
Sounders scored four goals for the second half to pull away after a 1-1 half time.
They took the lead in the 57th minute on a 25-farm blast of Rothrock after taking a pass from Rusnak.
After Morris’s goal, Roldan curved a low, 20-yard shot just inside the left post in the 84th minute and Rusnak re-directed a pass from Georgi Minoungou after a run down to the right in the second half.
Sounders opened the point in the 11th minute when Jesus Ferreira played a long ball for Kossa-Rienzi along the right wing. Kossa-Rienzi came to the top of the 6-yard box, spun and blasted a left foot shot in the remote net. Kossa-Rienzi, a first election last year from the University of Washington, only made their second career that MLS began when both teams rotated their range with Concacaf Champions Cup matches Tuesday.
It was the first goal that LAFC had allowed in the last 381 minutes in all competitions.
LAFC BAND The score in the 38th minute. Andrew Thomas came from his finish line in an attempt to take Artem Smolyakov’s corner park from the right wing, but encountered teammate Jackson Reggan. The ball fell to the peat and LA had several attempts in a distortion right at the top of the 6-yard box before Eldaz hit the ball in the net on the third attempt.
LA’s second goal came at stoppage time for the second half when Martinez stole a pass along the sideline at the midfield, dribbled through half of Sounders’ range and scored on a left shot from 10 meters out.
Sounder midfielder Pedro de la Vega suffered a right quadriceps injury just by half an hour. Rusnak, among the starters who received a break, came from the bench to replace De la Vega in the 36th minute.
