Jose Ramirez met three home and Brayan Rocchio had two hits and three RBI to lead Cleveland Guardians to an 8-6 victory over Los Angeles Angels on Friday night in Anaheim, Calif.
Ramirez met a solo home in the first round and a two-run homer in the fifth, both of them came by Angels starter Jose Soriano (1-1), who set a career high with nine strikes but allowed five runs in 5 1/3 rounds.
Ramirez met his third Homer in the ninth round outside the Angels lacker Caden Dana.
Rocchio’s two-out single with the bases loaded in the sixth round drove home two runs to snap a tie and put a Guardians for good at 6-4.
Six Cleveland -Away combined to allow two runs in six rounds, both runs come closer to the Emmanuel class in the ninth round. Tim Herrin (1-0) struck a speechless inning to win the victory. Mike Trout and Logan O’Hoppe each home for Los Angeles.
Ramirez met his first Homer in the first round of Soriano to set up Cleveland 1-0, but Trout matched it at the bottom of the first off-guardians starter Gavin Williams to bind the game on 1-1.
Guardians broke the 1-1 tie in the second round after a two-out walk to Gabriel Arias and an RBI double of Rocchio for a 2-1 advantage.
Williams found problems with a couple of walks in the third round, which led to an RBI single by Angel’s first bass man Nolan Schanuel. Jo Adell Late added a two-out, two-run single to put the angels in front of 4-2.
Ramirez band The game at 4-4 in the fifth round with its second Homer, a two-run blast after Soriano went Steven Kwan with two out.
The angels missed a chance to regain the lead at the bottom of the fifth as they loaded the bases with one out towards Herrin. Herrin, however, fled to knock Adell and get Kevin Newman on a fly to the middle.
