Keeping NBA’s fourth best record and scoring crime seems to be an excellent position with the playoffs about five weeks away.
However, New York Knick’s fans could soon buy a certain stone fruit for sour grapes lately.
No. 3 seed in the eastern conference seems likely, safe, and the team has gone 13-5 since January 20. But that’s the way Knicks Los-Plus’s time and the enemy-that leaves many supporters tired. More on that later. Because another possible tough pill to swallow seems to have gone with some incident (for now), and Knick’s fans should have something to cheer.
After missing Tuesday’s loss 114-105 to Golden State due to unspecified personal reasons, all-Star Big Man Karl-Anthony Towns will return to the lineup tonight when Knicks visits the Los Angeles Lakers to open a five-game West Coast Road trip, according to a New York Post report.
That’s good, right? Good, even. Town’s first season with New York after a seasonal trade with Minnesota has not been anything but success. He is on average 24.5 points and is second in the league with 13.4 returns per match. He also contributes when he does not shoot 53% from the floor – including 42.5% from long range – and has completed 3.1 assists.
Still, a cryptic social media message from Jordyn Woods, the influence of the cities, allows themselves to be delayed until the cities the next address the media. Woods posted late Tuesday to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, and wrote easily, “[expletive] Cancer. “
Whatever held cities from Tuesday’s game, Knicks could obviously have used him. After OG Anunoby shared a couple of free throw with 6:33 left to pull New York within one point, the Golden State scored 20 of the game’s last 29 points to pull away.
The decay for the fourth quarter is nothing new for Knicks, but at least they are better than the games where the attack is unable to sput up late because the opposition is on fire.
That was what happened on February 21st. Riding on a three-game victory that bridged the All-Star break, Knicks lost 142-105 on NBA leading Cleveland Cavaliers, after 27 years and gave at least 32 points during each quarter.
Two days later, New York fell by 13 on the defending champion Boston, No. 2 seed in the east. Overall, Knicks 0-5 is against Cavaliers and Celtics this season, with all except a defeat that comes with double-digit numbers.
Over the past two weeks of the regular season, three more leak must be offered against the best of the East. New York visits Cleveland on April 2 before he hosted Celtics and Cavaliers in his last two home games, April 8 and 11.
Then Mitchell Robinson looks to be longer a week when he returns from ankle surgery which delayed his season debut to February 28. Robinson has increased his minutes since then and played 15 against Warriors.
“He is a gaming exchange for them,” said Golden State coach Steve Kerr. “To be a lobhot, shot blocker.”
Projects Robinson to form a big three with cities and all-Star points guard Jalen Brunson? Not exactly. But he affects Knick’s ability to make a difference in the color on both sides of the floor.
New York will need more than one added wrinkle to close the gap with Cleveland and Boston-Not to mention holding a first round of opponents (the growing Detroit pistons, maybe?).
But do not eliminate knicks from the playoffs until the opposition does. They will be after seasonal with All-Stars in Frontcourt and Backcourt and a coach who is bent on defense.
