Adrian Kempe and Warren Foegele both did two times and Andrei Kuzmo once made a three-point excursion when the host Los Angeles Kings gave San Jose Sharks an 8-1 drinking on Sunday.
Trevor Moore gathered a goal and an assist, while Phillip Danault and Trevor Lewis added a goal for Kings (41-23-9, 91 points), who snapped a two-game skid and moved to second place in the Pacific Division.
Anze Kopitar collected three assists, Drew Doughty, Vladislav Gavrikov and Quinton Byfield published each two helpers and David Rittich made 22 rescues when Los Angeles set a Franchise record with his 27th victory in the season.
Cam Lund accounted for the sharks (20-44-9, 49 points), who have lost four of his last six and is last in the league. Goalkeeper Georgi Romanov stopped 28 shots.
Danault opened the score on the 5:35 mark, seconds after a Kings Power game expired. Danault sat up in the right circle and drilled a one-hour set up by Byfield’s soft pass over the track.
Shortly after the sharks failed to convert during a long five-three power-game-Macklin Celebrini came within a whisker with a shot that called from Stolpings doubled the lead with a man-triggering marker. Kempe was untouched as he entered the track and buried a feed from Anze Kopitar for his 30th goal of the season.
Lund put the sharks on the board at 4:52 in the second period and buried a recovery for his second goal in as many excursions in his third career game.
Moore, however, restored Kings’ two-goal lead two minutes later and ended a wide open chance set up by Kopitar for an early 30th birthday present.
Then the route was on. Foegele added another Los Angeles Power-Play goal at 13:31 and broke home a rebound while parking at the fold.
He added his second of the game with 55.3 seconds left in the middle frame and died a score for his 22nd goal of the season.
Kempe made it a 6-1 point by finishing a three-way game with 21.7 seconds left during the period.
Kuzmenko and Lewis made 33 seconds apart late in the third period when Kings set a seasonal for goals in a game.
