Kings hand Blackhawks sixth straight loss

Darcy Kuemper made 17 rescues for the visiting Los Angeles Kings in a 3-1 victory against the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday evening.

Kuemper has handed only five goals in his last six matches, after a 10 game run where he had given up 31.

Trevor Moore, Alex Turcotte and Joel Edmundson scored for Kings (37-21-9, 83 points), who have won six out of seven.

Connor Bedard scored and Spencer Knight scored 30 rescues for the Blackhawks (20-40-9, 49 points), which has dropped a season-high six in a row (0-5-1).

Los Angeles took 1-0 lead at 8:45 in the first period. Moore brought the puck into the Chicago zone before pulling up over the right circle. He went into the high place and knocked his shot from the inside of the post for his 14th goal of the season.

Los Angeles got 59 seconds later, when Vladislav Gavrikov took a shot from the above left circle and along the wall and Turcotte tipped it in the net.

Kings surpassed the Blackhawks 19-7 during the first period.

Chicago went on his second power play in the game when Gavrikov was called for Dauvo Teravainen, and the Blackhawks scored during man distribution to reduce it to 2-1 at 10:50 in the second period.

Knight made a rescue on a short -handed chance of Drew Doughty, which led to a rush in the other direction. Tyler Bertuzzi carried the puck into the Los Angeles zone and dropped a pass for Teravainen, who sent the puck to Bertuzzi on the right side of the net. Bertuzzi fed the puck to Bedard for a one-hour from the right circle.

The Blackhawks pulled Knight for the extra rider, but Edmundson scored in the empty network to extend the lead to 3-1 with 19 seconds left.
