Written by the band’s main vocalist Jamie Boyleand produced by Jim Lowe (Stereophonics, Taylor Swift, The Charlatans) The song deepens themes of existential reflection and the desire for one’s life to have meaningful impact.
When he explains the inspiration behind the tracks meaningful lyric, Boyle says: “‘Headstone’ is a song that I wrote about the internal struggle to want to feel that my existence is important. It reflects the hope that in the end it will do that ‘figure out’ And not be ‘For nothing’ And I’ve done enough to be worthy of remembering. ”
“I think that during the writing process, I had a moment of insight to the fact that I often set aside the more meaningful, life -confirming aspects of existence as family and relationships to spend that time instead to create something to make me believe worthy of the love I get.”
“The song is an honest reflection of a mental struggle to try to believe that I have deserved the right to exist, a privilege that is removed from many more deserving people than me, and that my life will leave a mark that lasts beyond me. It is an exploration of everything that rushes around my head from ambition to self -value and the search for validation. “
