He was not lucky this year.

Our long -standing friend Brian Thomas Did not work St. Patrick’s Day for the first time in 26 years Monday. He is better known on that holiday as Lucky The Leprechaun. Thomas worked for Harrah’s/Caesars Entertainment for 17 years, a fixture at St. Patrick’s Day at the original O’Sheas casino.

Thomas got loose in October 2020, but he continued to take EMCEE or act on gigs here and there. He still acts as a “mini-sister” at Kiss by Monster Mini Golf at Rio. He has also taken Golden Knights uniform for the parade to T-Mobile Arena and was in the mini Mötley Crüe Parodiband during Crüe’s driving at Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel 2012.

Demand for the happy character remains, but there is not enough things.

“I guess you can say that the requests were there,” says Thomas, “but the budget wasn’t.”

Thomas has been around the Strip casino scene for decades. He can read the clover and also the tea leaves.

“It’s unfortunate. I see that the casino industry, especially on the strip, is more concerned about the end result than the guest experience,” says Thomas. “With resort fees and parking you are already over $ 100 and you didn’t even do anything for the day.”

Thomas used to deal with $ 5 specially frozen Bailey’s St. Patrick’s Day drinks that now cost $ 30. “Drinking prices are completely ridiculous,” says Mini -Ster, who preaches to the choir.
