João Fonseca dominates Elmer Moller

João Fonseca started with a victory at Mutua Madrid Open and collected a 6-2, 6-3 route of the Danish qualifier Elmer Moller at Manolo Santana Stadium.
One year after becoming the tournament’s youngest match winner, Fonseca entered Madrid fresh by a month -long break after Miami’s third round, and he produced a buns solid performance.
Moller is one to look at, but Fonseca, after growing up on Clay, rose aggressively on other services, so he can dictate rally, and he has a lot more experience on the tour even though he was 3 years younger.
Fonseca’s ability to absorb Moller’s heavy backhand (his brand shot) and redirect it with power overwhelmed 21-year-old, who went into a six-match victory after the Oeiras Challenger title.
During the two sets, the Brazilians created 13 chances for the breaking point and converted four and did not meet a single breaking point on their own to develop comfortably.
His victory sets a second round of No. 11-seed Tommy Paul, where he will chase his third top 20-hair bottom in 2025, after beating Andrey Rublev and Ugo Humbert earlier this year.
I love to play on clay. I was born on the clay, so I like to play on it, even with height. I like to focus on my serving and play aggressive, so feel good this week. Me and my team felt it was a time to rest a little, focus, be home, rest mentally. Then come here to do the clay period. Very satisfied with this victory today. Fonseca on its winnings.
Norrie survives Landaluce

Cameron Norrie split past 19-year-old Spanish Wildcard Martin Landaluce 6-7 (4), 7-5, 6-4on Arantxa Sanchez Stadium, which saves a match point to keep his Madrid campaign alive.
It does not seem so long ago that Norrie was comfortable within the top 10, but he has now slipped to 91st after a bad 18 months.
Mired in a 7-9 Win-Loss record for the season before the match, he had to lean on experience to switch the home favorite in a 2-hour 42-minute battle.
Like Carreno Busta yesterday, Landaluce was supported by a rough Madrid audience, and he seized the first set of 7-6 (4) and used his aggressive baseline game.
Norrie stared down a gun barrel in the second set, in front of a match point on serving of 4-5. But he has always been the dirty type of player with excellent fitness, and he dug in to hold before he broke to catch the set.
The third set saw Norrie Harness Momentum, break into Game Nine to seal the 6-4 victory and set up a second round with Jiri Lehecka.
