
Mitch Marner and Matthew Knies each had a goal and an assist and Toronto Maple Leafs finished their three-game losing line by holding on to a 4-3 victory over values Edmonton Oilers on Saturday.
William Nylander and Bobby Mcmann also scored for Toronto, while Auston Matthews raised a couple of assists. The goal Joseph Woll made 45 rescues in the victory.
Marner counted what ended up being the game -winning goal 18 seconds into the third period and zipped through a lot of oilers for his 16th season.
It set up Maple Leafs 4-1, but Edmonton then gathered.
Zach Hyman found the back of the net at 6:04 by the third by cutting in the middle of the ice and snapping a shot past Woll. Corey Perry then cheated Toronto’s goalkeeper with a snap shot from the blue line that lowered Oiler’s deficit to 4-3 at 11:33.
It looked like Edmonton tied things with just over two minutes left, but Leon Draisaitl got his goal called backside after a coach’s challenge. Toronto hung out of there.
Evan Bouchard also scored for Oilers, who has dropped back-to-back games after winning three in a row. Stuart Skinner finished with 24 rescues.
Nylander took over the game early. Less than two minutes into the competition, he dangled the puck past Edmonton defender John Klingberg, but he could not slip it in the net. Then with 13:28 left in the first, Nylander made for the 30th time this season.
Knies doubled Maple Leaf’s lead less than three minutes later while they were on Power Play, which made it 2-0 at 9:08.
The one continued at 12:50 by the opening frame, when Mcmann counted another Power-play marker for Maple Leafs to put Edmonton in a 3-0 hole.
Bouchard finally got Oilers on the board thanks to a burning bang with 8:33 left in the center frame.
