Mavericks GM Nico Harrison was so close, but still so far from pulling off a masterful trade

Trade Luka Doncic had the potential to be an incredible feature of Dallas Maverick’s manager Nico Harrison.

No, this is not furious.

If you are still reading, you have definitely decided to stay just to see what someone seemingly humming idiot on the internet has to say about what many call the worst business in sports history.

Hear me in 500 words, and then you can continue. Release me a hate message on the way out too if you choose it. I have to know if I’m far from the mark on this one.

The decision to handle Doncic for the Los Angeles Lakers was apparently made because Dallas was frustrated by the five times all-star’s bad diet and conditioning. The organization also did not like Doncic’s lack of effort at the defensive end, a very reasonable grip given that the 25-year-old was a complete responsibility on that side of the ball in the final this past summer.

Now, these things aside, Luka Doncic is still Luka Doncic. He is a top-five player in the league when it is healthy, a constant triple-double threat and already has five all-nba choices to its name.

Still, the concerns that Harrison and Mavericks had are completely valid. Are those disadvantages serious enough to guarantee a trade? It’s a completely different conversation. But Dallas decided that they were and Maverick’s measures.

And it would have been a completely motivated feature if Dallas got the right return for Doncic.

I am sure that the sports world would still have been completely stunned, and yes, Maverick’s fans would still have taken a coffin to the American Airlines Center to denote Franchise’s “death”, but at least Dallas would have been well positioned to dominate the league in the coming years .

Instead, Mavericks passed away with 31-year-old Anthony Davis, Max Christie and one, Singular draft for the first round-2029, think of you.

It is a purely embarrassing feature for someone with all-NBA references an average of 28.1 points, 8.3 returns and 7.8 assists this season and can still play another 10 to 15 years.

There must be other teams out there that are willing to pay more. Suppose Dallas got a young two -way stud, one or two strong role players and a package with first rounds.

Then may not lose Doncic as Poor.

By the way, managing Doncic for a Western Conference enemy is also crazy. Just thought I would throw it there.

During the final last year, I wrote an article saying Doncic was not a winner. And I stand by it until he has a ring on his finger. He may never have one, but if he does not change any of his ways: diet, conditioning, the God defense-you know, all things that the Mavericks were worried about.

It is easy to get stuck in “what could have beens” when trading like this is done. There is the assumption that Mavericks would definitely have gone all the way at some point with Doncic, but it might never have happened.

All Dallas fans can do now is hope for the best. Harrison could have been a hero in the long run, but now everything he will ever be a villain.
