Max Fried dominated in the eighth round, Trent Grisham, Cody Bellinger and Austin Wells met each home, and the visiting New York Yankees beat Tampa Bay Rays 4-0 on Sunday.
Fried (4-0) did not allow a hit through Five-Plus’s innings and went out after giving up two hits with two walks and two strikes over 7 2/3 rounds. He seemed to have a no-hitter in the eighth round before a previous points game changed late in the game.
Fernando Cruz recorded the last four outs for his second rescue.
Anthony Volpe doubled among its two hits for New York, which took three of four in the Yankees series our training home for George M. Steinbrenner Field, and Ray’s home space this season.
Grisham gave Yankees an early lead against Ryan Pepiot (1-3) by beating the game’s third pitch over the right field. The 368-foot Homer was Grisham’s sixth season.
New York pushed a new driving in the third round. Oswaldo Cabrera met a doll, Aaron Judge delivered a single single, and Cabrera scored when Cody Bellinger was based on a strength.
Bellinger began the sixth round by depositing Pepiot 1-2 Fastball over the right center. The 386-foot shot was Bellinger’s second Homer this season.
Pepiot allowed three runs on six hits over six rounds. He went one and knocked out seven.
The rays were held here before they were retroactively guided for recording their first hit with one out in the sixth round.
Chandler Simpson reached the base of a ground ball for the first bass man Paul Goldschmidt, and the paragraph was originally ruled as an error by the official point Bill Mathews before it was changed to a single at the beginning of the eighth round.
