The sinking Brandon Nimmo laced the tie-breaking two-out RBI single in the seventh round on Sunday afternoon for the New York Mets host, which completed a four-game swipe by St. Louis Cardinals with a 7-4 victory.

Mets struck a 3-0 lead before collecting back. They are improved to 15-7-bound for the third best 22 game start in franchise history. The Cardinals with four games were the first since 1986, when New York won its latest championship.

The losing line of the four-game binds a seasonal high for the Cardinals, which was outscored 19-9 by New York in the series.

Nimmo, associated with a 3-for-23 decline, fell in a 1-2 hole against former teammate Phil Maton before singing past Diving Shortstop Thomas Saggese to make Francisco Lindor from others.

Mets added key insurance in eighth, when Tyrone Taylor had an RBI-Bloop double before Juan Soto delivered a two-run double.

Soto finished with three RBI, while Lindor was 3-for-5 with a leading Homer. Pete Alonso had a driving single in the fifth. Soto, Taylor and Luisangel Acuna had two hits per piece.

Jose Butto (2-0), the third of four Mets Pitchers, gave up game-binding two-run doubles to Saggeser before he got four outs to win the victory. Ryne Stanek, pitching in a non-rescue situation, gave up an RBI single to Lars Nootbaar in the ninth round.

Alec Burleson started Cardinal’s comeback with an RBI foundation in sixth. Willson Contreras had two hits.

Jojo Romero (1-2), the first cardinals, took the loss after recording one and allowed to run on seventh.

Mets Starter Clay Holmes gave up a run on four hits and two walks while he knocked out six over six rounds of his longest start since a six-inning excursion for Pittsburgh Pirates on July 14, 2018.
