MLB Roundup: Carson Kelly (bicycle), Cubs destroys A’s home opener

Michael Busch named Sutter Health Park as a Major League Stadium with a first round of home run, Carson Kelly met for the bike, and Chicago Cubs destroyed athletics debut at their new home in West Sacramento, California, with an 18-3 shellacking on Monday.

Kelly drove in five runs, Busch Four, and Dansby Swanson and Kyle Tucker (who both also hammered) three pieces for the kids. Chicago knocked out 21 hits, including 11 for extra bases. Kelly became only the 17th Catcher in the Major League story that hit the bike – and the first since JT Realmuto in June 2023.

Ben Brown (1-1) made his first start of the season and favored the great offensive support to get the victory and limited A’s to three runs and six hits in five rounds. He went two and knocked out five. Nico Hoerner (3-for-4), Suzuki (2-for-5) and Pete Crow Armstrong (2-for-5) also gathered several hits for the kids.

Jacob Wilson, who played one day after his 23rd birthday, belt his first Major League home run for A’s, a solo shot in the third. Brent Rooker and Miguel Andujar each had a couple of singles for A’s, who gathered 10 hits. Starter Joey Estes (0-1) was charged with six runs on nine hits and four walks with two strikes in four plus innings.

Red 14, Rangers 3

Elly de la Cruz met two tape measurement home runs, doubled, singled and drove in a career -high seven runs to lead Cincinnati Reds to a route to visit Texas.

De la Cruz matched Javier Valentin on July 17, 2005 for most runs driven by a Switch-Hitter in a single game in club history. Matt Mclain added his third Homer of the season and drove in three runs for the reds, which received three runs in each of the first two rounds to Coast for the victory.

By making his Cincinnati debut, the right hand fired Brady Singer (1-0) seven shut-off rounds of one-hit ball. He went two and knocked out eight. The Texas Starter Kumar Rocker (0-1) was accused of six runs and seven hits over three rounds, knocked out three, went two and gave up two home races.

White sox 9, twins 0

Martin Perez threw six no-hit rounds, and Andrew Vaughn, Andrew Benintendi and Michael A. Taylor Hamrade each to lead Chicago to a victory over the visit Minnesota.

Perez (1-0) retired the first 11 beats he met before he went Ryan Jeffers with two outs in the fourth. He gave way to rookie’s right hand Mike Vasil at the top of the seventh after knocking out nine, walking three and hitting a batter. Perez threw 93 seats, 54 for strikes.

Gavin Sheets ran in four runs and Kyle Hart got his first major league victory when San Diego opened the 5-0 season for the first time in franchise history with a victory over the visit Cleveland.

Hart (1-0) made his first Major League performance in five years and lasted five rounds, which allowed five hits and two runs with a walk and four strikes. Luis L. Ortiz (0-1) took the loss after allowing seven runs on nine hits in 4 2/3 rounds. His biggest problem was the sheet, which touched him for two-runs in a four-run second and a three-run fifth.

Hart’s only mistake was a couple of fat plans over the middle early in the game. Jose Ramirez drilled one in the left field chairs in the first for his first Homer of the season, and Austin Hedges lost a solo shot in the third for his first Homer.

Dodgers 6, Braves 1

Teoscar Hernandez met a two-run home run in the first round, Tyler Glasnow went five speechless and Los Angeles remained perfect in the season with a home victory over Slong Atlanta.

Hernandez had two hits and three runs points while taking over the third place in the order of Freddie Freeman, who aggravated his surgically repaired right ankle while sliding in the shower and had the day off against his former team. Enrique Hernandez also met a home run for Los Angeles.

Michael Conforto and Will Smith added RBI hits for Los Angeles, which improved to 6-0 in the season. Braves not only dropped their fifth match in a row to start the season, but they saw their speechless streak reach 29 rounds before breaking through in the eighth round of a home run from Michael Harris II.

Royals 11, Brewers 1

In its first start in almost two years, Kris Bubic (1-0) gave up three hits and knocked out eight beats over six speechless innings when Kansas City spoiled Milwaukee’s home opener.

Jonathan India was 3-for-5 with two RBI, Salvador Perez was 2-for-4 with a solo home, and Royals got six runs in the seventh round to take a lead of 10-0. Maikal Garcia was 1-for-3 with a two-run shot in the other.

With the Winless Brewer rotation already lost by injuries, Elvin Rodriguez (0-1) made a place in her debut for Milwaukee on her 27th birthday. He allowed four runs on six hits in four rounds. Jackson Chourio had an RBI double in the seventh to flatten the lonely driving for the breweries.

Orioles 8, Red Sox 5

Cedric Mullins crushed a two-run double during Baltimore’s four-run first inning and drove in another two runs later in the match when Orioles won his home opener by defeating Boston.

Tyler O’Neill, who played for Boston last season, picked up four hits and got two runs in his first home game with Orioles. Mullins, Ramon Urias, Ryan Mountcastle and Jackson Holliday all added two hits in Baltimore’s 15-head attack. Serathony Dominguez (1-0), which was the second shipper for Baltimore, was the winning jug.

Jarren Duran drove in three runs and joined Romy Gonzalez, who doubled in a run in ninth, and Rob Refnyder with two hits for Red Sox. Sean Newcomb (0-1), who made his debut for Red Sox, was noticed for four runs on eight hits and two walks in four rounds.

Phillies 6, Rockies 1

Edmundo Sosa met a wise, two-run double with two outs in the seventh inning and Kyle Schwarber accompanied a two-run Homer when Philadelphia celebrated his home opener with a victory over Colorado.

Max Kepler and Nick Castellanos added Back-to-Back-Homers in the eighth round of Phillies, who recorded seven of their 11 hits in the seventh and eighth round. Kepler finished with three hits and Sosa doubled twice.

Hunter Goodman hammered and Brenton Doyle had three hits from the lead for Colorado, which has lost three of their first four matches this season.

Tigers 9, Mariners 6

Riley Greene hammered in a six-run first round when Detroit defeated the host Seattle for his first victory in the season.

Dillon Dingler, Trey Sweeney and Javier Baez, the three lower strokes in Detroit’s range, each went 3-5 to contribute to an 18-head attack. Tyler Holton (1-0) got the victory in relief. Brant Hurter was charged with two runs in three rounds but got their first major league rescue.

Mariners Starter Emerson Hancock (0-1) allowed six runs on seven hits of just two-thirds of an inning. Seattles Randy Arozarena, Luke Raley and Cal Raleigh home.

Mets 10, Marlins 4

Pete Alonso met a Grand Slam to run a seven-run fifth round for New York, which rolled to a 10-4 victory over host Miami in the opener of a three-game series.

Alonsos Homer was one of four of Mets, which gathered 11 hits. Starling Marte went deep in the third round and Luis Torrens hit a two-run shot to meet the fifth round before Brandon Nimmo closed Mets points with a two-run in the sixth.

Mets starter David Peterson (1-0) allowed two runs on five hits, including solo homers by Otto Lopez (3-for-5, two RBI) and Eric Wagaman (2-for-5, two RBI). He gave up three walks while he knocked out nine. Cal Quantrill (0-1) gave up six runs on eight hits with a walk and two strikes over four plus ins in his Miami debut.

Rays 6, pirates 1

Jake Mangum went 4-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two stolen bases in his second big league match, which drives the host Tampa Bay past Pittsburgh.

Southeastern Conference’s All-Time Hits Leader while playing at Mississippi State, Mangum put many career starts-first hit, double, driving, RBI and stolen base. In Tampa Bay’s 10-head attack, Jonathan Aranda 2-for was with a double, a run and a walk when Rays won for the third time in four matches.

Ray’s Starter Drew Rasmussen (1-0) was dominant in his first season start, in front of only 17 strokes in five shutdown rounds. The right hand allowed two hits and no walks while they knocked out four. Adam Frazier had an RBI single as one of Pittsburgh’s four hits. Endy Rodriguez doubled and scored, but Pittsburgh took his fourth loss in five matches.

Giants 7, Astros 2

Jordan Hick’s revolved six shutdown rounds, Wilmer Flore’s sugared his third home run and visited San Francisco defeated Houston Astros in the opener of a three-game Interleague series.

Hicks (1-0), a native in Houston, retired 14 consecutive battles for a distance. He allowed one hit, issued two walks and recorded six strikes. Before Flores deposited a 2-1 slider from Reliever Luis Contreras in left field chairs with two outs in sixth for a three-run shot, Giants used its speed to cut out a 2-0 wire outside Houston Ronel Blanco (0-1).

Isaac Paredes finished Giant’s shut-off bid with a two-run double outside Spencer Bivens in eighth. Matt Chapman got these runs back for Giants with a two-run single in ninth.

Angels 5, Cardinals 4 (10 rounds)

Mike Trout met two sacrificial flies when the visit Los Angeles gathered past St. Louis in 10 rounds.

The church Paris went 1-for-2 with two walks, two runs and one RBI for the angels, which deleted 2-0 and 3-1 deficits. Starter Tyler Anderson allowed three runs on six hits and two walks in five rounds. He knocked out four. Reid Detmers, Ryan Zeferjahn, Garrett McDaniels and Brock Burke (1-0) combined for four shutdowns. Rookie Ryan Johnson noted his first career rescue.

Lars Nootbaar was 2-for-3 with a homer and two runs for the cardinals, which suffered their first loss after starting 3-0. Brendan Donovan also met a Homer. Cardinal Starter Miles Mikolas allowed two runs on two hits and two walks in 5 1/3 rounds. He knocked out three. Jojo Romero, the sixth cardinals, took the loss.

Blue Jays 5, National 2

Bowden Francis did not allow a hit until the sixth round, Andres Gimenez Hamrade and Toronto defeated to visit Washington.

Gimenez was based four times in the opener of a series of three games and adds a walk, a hit of pitch and a double. Francis (1-0) finished six rounds, which allowed two runs, two hits and three walks while they knocked out four.

CJ Abrams and James Wood met Solo-Homers for citizens, both in the sixth round when Washington halved a 4-0 deficit.
