MLS Roundup: Rapids extends D Keegan Rosenberry

Colorado Rapids signed defender Keegan Rosenberry to a three -year extension through the 2028 season on Thursday.

The 31-year-old captain enters his seventh season as the club’s longest rented players. The twice all-Star is ranked as the fourth in the rapid history in MLS performances (172) and starts (167).

“Keegan has been a cornerstone of our team over the past six seasons, and we are pleased to secure his future with the club,” said Rapid President Padraig Smith. “His texture, leadership and professionalism both on and outside the field have helped to shape our team’s identity. As a veteran presence, his experience and influence will remain invaluable as we continue to build against future success.”

Rosenberry has registered nine goals and 17 assists in 252 matches (243 starts) with Philadelphia Union (2016-18) and Colorado.

-Lafc has acquired Turkish forward Cengiz under loans from Super Lig Powerhouse Fenerbahce. The deal goes through June 30 and includes a purchase option.

He has counted 66 goals and 46 assists in 343 professional matches throughout Europe, played in Italy (such as Roma), England (Leicester City) and France (Marseille) in addition to his original Turkey.

-The Association of Philadelphia signed 18-year-old home-grown forward Sal Olivas for a four-year contract until 2028 with a club alternative for 2029.

He recorded four goals and one assist in 20 games with regular season with MLS Next Pro Side Union II during the 2024 campaign.
