Tailo tops Djokovic

I had a feeling that Djokovic would not be a factor in Monte Carlo when he looked emptied in practice, and it turned out to be correct, as Alejandro Tabilo upset him 6-3, 6-4 in the second round.

Chilean, who also beat Djokovic in Rome last season, used it twice the Monte-Caro champion’s subpar performance, which comes through an hour and 37 minutes.

Djokovic, who was fresh by a runner in Miami, made a flat start and looked well below his best when his shot lacked penetration. While showing some flashes of resistance in the second set, he beat his only chances at the breaking point in the eighth game, which allowed Tabilo to serve the match with a love team.

There is not much to read, because I do not see that Djoker is a significant threat to clay elsewhere than the French Open. Maybe he can up his game in Rome to build speed, but outside these events? I’m not sure,

While I am unwilling to say that it is a terrible loss considering his eye problems and what he looked like in practice, Tabilo has been in sad form, so it really is not good.

It was actually more like the worst day. Look … I hoped it wouldn’t happen. But it was a pretty much likelihood that I will play this way … just horrible. Horrible feeling to play this way and I’m just sorry for all the people who have to witness this. Djokovic on his loss.

Alcaraz is coming back to see of cerundolo

Alcaraz MontecarloAlcaraz Montecarlo

Carlos Alcaraz sacked his virgin Monte-Carlo-victory on Wednesday and overcame a shaky start to disassemble Francisco Cerundolo 3-6, 6-0, 6-1

The 21-year-old Spaniard, who had lost his only previous match at the Principality, turned the tide with a tactical review, increased his return game and eventually dominated in an hour, 37-minute victory.

Cerundolo had an excellent sunshine double, and he continued that form in the first set and used Alcaraz who sprayed some balls, which has prevented him this season.

But the Streckiness can also work both ways. Alcaraz eventually found the right balance, which saves two break points in the second set’s opening game and blasted a pre -winner on the go to break Cerundolo. This led to a run of 12 of the next 13 matches, which contained some of his best tennis in recent weeks.

He will meet Daniel Altmaier in the third round, after the German ended Richard Gasquet’s 23-year-old Monte-Caro trip with a 7-5, 5-7, 6-2 victory.

Alcaraz will have to play better to win here, but if he can build some confidence, get as adaptable as he is on clay.

I didn’t start well. I made many mistakes and I let him play inside the track and dominated the point. I just knew I had to do something else, play more aggressively and play my own tennis: release pictures, go to the web and more aggression. The most important change was the return, I tried to return closer to the line and shoot him. Alcaraz on his win.

Other matches of notes

Lorenzo Musetti fought back from a set to defeat Jiri Lehecka 1-6, 7-5, 6-2 in a two-hour, 19-minute collision at the Court des Princes.

The 13th seeded Italian struggled early when Lehecka’s flat aptly dominated the opener, but Musetti turned the tide in the second set and saved breakpoints at 4-3 to change speed. From there he found his rhythm, and used his one -handed backhand to dictate rally and grow through the decisive. Musetti now meets compatriot Matteo Berrettini in a blockbuster third round showdown, an re-match of their 2024 Stuttgart-collision where Berrettini prevailed.

Alexei Popyrin pulled off an upset against the 14th seed Frances Tiefoe and Rally from a set to win 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 in a match that showed his clutch game on big points.

The Australians, who also beat Ugo Humbert in the first round, now meets the fourth seed Casper Ruud, who cruised past Roberto Bautista Agut 6-2, 6-1 in a dominant screen.

Ruud, a twice French Open finalist, broke the Spaniard four times, never before a breaking point himself and looks ready for a deep driving on his favored surface.

Elsewhere, Grigor Dimitrov struggled back to defeat the local Jokerte sign Valentin Vacherot 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 and won nine of the last 11 games to move on.

The 15th seed looked manless in the early stages, but Vacherot does not have many victories at this level, which made Dimitrov back and use his all-court’s versatility to overpower the Monegasque debutant.

Alex de Minaur reflected the comeback theme and released the first set to Tomas Machac before storming back 3-6, 6-0, 6-3, while Alejandro Davidovich Fokina edged Tomas Martin Etcheverry 7-6 (2), 6-3, and shows his typical Lera-Court and the record.

Andrey Rublev, in his first match with new coach Marat Safin in his corner, fought past Gael Monfil’s 6-4, 7-6 (2), and won a tight second-set tiebreak to move on, while 12th seed Arthur files sent Flavio Colli 6-2, 6-4 in a self-confidence.

Qualifier Daniel Altmaier ended Richard Gasquet’s Monte-Carlo goodbye with a 7-5, 5-7, 6-2 victory, and set up a third round with other seed Carlos Alcaraz.

Finally, Daniil Medvedev survived another incredible fight against Alexandre Muller and edged the Frenchman 7-6 (6), 5-7, 6-2 in a two-hour, 48-minute collision.

Medvedev began to tame, falling a break twice in the first set like Muller’s solid clay court game, fresh from a final in Rio earlier this year, looked to be the stronger of the two. But the Russian split back and forced a tiebreak, which he claimed 7-6 (6) after 65 minutes,

In the second set, Medvedev broke for a 5-4 lead and served for the match at 15-0, just to reveal, which allowed Muller to break twice and steal the set 7-5.

Independent, Medvedev regrouped into the decision, broke early and dominated with its baseline consistency to close the set 6-2. Back-to-back Lungbuster, and he meets road runner Alex de Minaur tomorrow, not easy.
