Nashville SC’s 3-goal Flurry puts away CF Montreal

Nashville SC broke up a speechless match with three goals in 11 minutes and cruised a 3-0 victory over visiting CF Montreal on Saturday night.

Alex Muyl, Josh Bauer and Jonathan Perez scored all points during the second half for Nashville (3-1, 10 points), winner of three straight matches. Its 10 points from the first five matches is the best start in club history.

Montreal (0-4-1, 1 point), held the point for a fourth straight match, remains Winless in the season.

Muyl’s goal came in the 56th minute when Sam Surridge took a well -focused touch on a ball that chipped into his way. It found Muyl, who had plenty of time and space to compete against the net and shoot it home to open the point.

It accelerated in Nashville’s advantage, and it responded by doubled the lead in the 62nd minute. After the head of Walker Zimmerman originally met Hany Mukhtar’s corner park, Bauer found the net with his own heading to make it 2-0.

Perez made it 3-0 in the 67th minute, his low and driven efforts diverted his fingertips on a diving Jonathan Sirois.

Montreal, who went into the night without goals since its season opener against Atlanta United on February 22, ended almost his long speechless streak in the ninth minute.

After Nashville goalkeeper Joe Willis took a back pass from his teammate in his own box, he had removed after intense pressure from Montreal’s Prince Owusu. Owusu then fired on an open net before Jack Maher cleared it at the last second.

Willis finally ended the night with three rescues on his way to his third clean sheet during the season and 70th of his career.

Mukhtar recorded a couple of assists for Nashville, who remained unbeaten at home (2-0-1). Zimmerman, Surridge, Gaston Brugman and Daniel Lovitz were credited with a help each.
