NBA Roundup: Spurs gets the last second victory in De’aaron Fox’s debut

Victor Wembanyama made a free throw with 2.9 seconds left and De’aaron Fox shined in his spurs debut when San Antonio fled with a 126-125 victory over host Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday evening.

Fox, acquired from Sacramento Kings on Monday as part of a three-team trading that also involved Chicago Bulls, poured 24 points on 11-AV-22 shooting and pulled out 13 assists. One of his misses led to a Wembanyama-Bakslagdunk that set Spurs up 125-123 with 30.4 seconds left.

Atlantas Trae Young sank a float with 8.5 seconds left to bind the game, but Onyka Okongwu Fouled Wembanyama at the next possession. Wembanyama deliberately missed its second free throwing attempt, and Young followed with a 45-foot heave that was outside the brand.

Wembanyama paired 24 points with 12 returns for Spurs, which won despite being surpassed from the field (52.7 percent to 50.5 percent). Devin Vassell added 20 points and Jeremy Sochan delivered 15 from the bench when San Antonio won for just the third time in ten matches.

Young led all scorers with 32 points. He also had 12 assists but committed nine sales. Okongwu (30 points), De’andre Hunter (22) and Dyson Daniels (19) also made in double figures when Atlanta lost for the ninth time in the last ten games.

Thunder 140, Suns 109

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 50 points to lead Oklahoma City to a home victory over Phoenix.

It was the third 50-plus point game Gilgeous-Alexander’s career, everyone came during the last seven games. Oklahoma City got 17 points from Aaron Wiggins and 13 from Jalen Williams.

Bradley Beal, a major factor in Phoenix’s early success, made 25 from the bench to lead Suns. Devin Booker added 19 points, and Royce O’Neale had 18.

Timberwolves 127, Bulls 108

Anthony Edwards scored 49 points and took nine returns when Minnesota pulled away for a victory over Chicago in Minneapolis.

Naz Reid recorded 22 points and 10 returns for Minnesota, which snapped a two-game skid. Rudy Gobert picked up 10 points and 15 returns, and Jaden McDaniels and Nickeil Alexander-Walker each scored 12 points.

Coby White scored 20 points to lead the bulls, who played at a short rest after hitting the visiting Miami Heat one night earlier. Josh Giddey finished with 19 points, and Nikola Vucevic listed 10 points and 11 boards.

Wizards 119, Nets 102

Bilal Coulibaly’s first career triple-double headed a balanced show when Washington cruised to his first winning line with three matches with a route of host Brooklyn.

Coulibaly finished with 11 points, 10 returns and a career high 11 assists. He was one of seven Wizards players who scored in double numbers, led by Jordan Poole with 19 points. An astonishing 40 of Washington’s 44 field goals came to facilitate the team’s points. Poole drew eight assists, and Bub Carrington lost a career best 10 assists to go with his 16 points.

Nets had a winning line with three games and held all these opponents below 100 points. Keon Johnson led all scorers with 25 points, while Cameron Johnson added 17 points in his first action since January 21 due to an ankle injury.

Jazz 131, Warriors 128

Franz Wagner and Paolo Banchero combined for 54 points and Orlando spoiled Zach Lavine’s debut for host Sacramento.

Wagner had five 3 points to take into account almost half of his 31 points, while Banchero complemented 23 points with nine assists for The Magic, who snapped a four-game losing line.

The sabonis of the referee had 21 points and 13 returns for Kings, who put Lavine in the starting lineup two days after acquiring him from Chicago Bulls in a three-team agreement. Lavine a total of 13 points and shot only 4-for-13.

Bucks 112, Hornets 102

Damian Lillard poured in 29 points and Bobby Portis made up 23 when the visit Milwaukee stopped a four-game losing line by drilling Charlotte.

Darius Garland made a 3-pointer when the time went out to allow to visit Cleveland to continue its dominance of Detroit.

Grizzlies 138, Raptors 107

Jaren Jackson Jr. got 14 of his 32 points during the second quarter when the Memphis visit defeated Toronto.

Yes Morant added 26 points for Grizzlies, who has won four in a row and 10 out of 11. Toronto-born beginner Zach Edey had 13 points and 15 returns for Memphis. GG Jackson added 17 points, Brandon Clarke scored 13 points and Scotty Pippen Jr. contributed 12 points.

Scottie Barnes produced 11 points and nine assists for Raptors, who have lost two in a row. Andi Agbaji, Jamal Shead and Ja’kobe Walter each got 14 points, Gradu Dick had 13 and Davion Mitchell and Jonathan Mogbo each got 10.

Heat 108, 76ers 101

Tyler Herro scored 30 points and Nikola Jovic shines in a complementary role when Miami topped the host Philadelphia in the middle of a large roster shaking.

During the first half of the year, ESPN reported that Heat had agreed to trade dissatisfied star Jimmy Butler to the Golden State Warriors as part of a multi -team agreement. If the Miami players knew about the trade, it really didn’t disappear when they held Philadelphia for their fourth victory in six matches.

Jovic shot 8-of-9 from the field and ended with a season’s high 23 points for Miami, which overcame 22 sales. Seven of these were committed by Herro and seven by Bam Adebayo, which contributed 18 points and 13 returns.
