Newcomers help the islanders to defeat lightning strikes in OT

Defender Tony Deangelo made an interruption 33 seconds to overtime when the New York Islanders extended the NHL’s longest winning line to seven matches and edged the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-2 host on Saturday night.

After the islanders won Faceoff, Bo went horvat deep into the defensive end. During a line change, Deangelo jumped on the ice while the lightning strike also changed, took a three-buttocks Ice Stretch pass from Horvat and beat Andrei Vasilevskiy (33 rescues) for his first New York marker.

Another newcomer, defender Adam Boqvist, scored in his Islanders debut, and Kyle Palmieri noted a goal in his second match in a row. Goalkeeper Ilya Sorokin stopped 28 shots when the club secured its fifth straight road victory.

Jake Guentzel and Nikita Kucherov scored Lightning, which fell to 2-4-1 in the last seven excursions.

Vasilevskiy made one of its 12 rescues during the first period at Simon Holmstrom’s Handm with 14:35 on an odd man-rush, and another at Maxim Tsyplakov’s point-blank shot three minutes later.

Sorokin, who stopped 13 shots during the period, denied a furry shot of Kucherov from the left circle with just over two minutes left.

In the second, Guentzel broke the scorer at 5:39 when he cut a long shot by Erik Cernak for a 1-0 lead, giving the great defender an assist and his 99th career point.

After killing the third consecutive Lightning Power Play, the islanders took a break as Mathew Barzal blew past Cernak, who slipped and fell, on an interruption that Vasilevskiy filled.

But Boqvist, who was picked up on Friday after abstaining by Florida Panthers, crashed in and potted Rebundet at 18:16 for his third goal in total and first with his new club.

Shortly after the lightning strike, visitors’ first man -advantage killed in the third, Palmieri met the net at 6:41 from a feed from Tsyplakov, which had the puck behind Vasilevskiy’s net.

With Vasilevskiy from the ice for the extra rider during the last two minutes, Kucherov scored with 47 seconds left to force overtime.
