NHL Roundup: Steven Stamkos finishes Hat Trick in OT to lift Preds

Steven Stamkos ended a hat trick in overtime to lift Nashville Predators to a 3-2 victory against the visiting Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday.

Stamkos fired a one-hour from the left circle 2:39 of the extra framework for its 14th career hat trick.

Justus Annunen made 17 rescues for predators, which have won three straight.

Alex Vlasic and Ilya Mikheyev scored the Blackhawks, which is 3-0-2 in the last five games. Arvid Soderblom made 38 rescues.

Flames 1, Canadiens 0

Rookie goalkeeper Dustin Wolf recorded his third suspension of the season and his career while backed host Calgary to a suspension victory over Montreal.

Vitek Vanecek made 21 rescues in his Panthers debut, and defender Nate Schmidt gave two primary assists when Florida defeated to visit Buffalo in Sunrise, FLA.

Florida has won six straight matches, and Panthers have never dragged during that span. Panthers is also 19-before-19 on the penalty death in these six matches. Aj Greer, Carter Verhaeghe, Anton Lundell and Sam Bennett (Tom-Netter) did on Saturday for Panthers.

Saber’s goalkeeper Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 32 rescues.

Senators 4, Rangers 3 (OT)

Brady Tkachuk scored his second goal in the game 33 seconds to overtime when host Ottawa stormed back for a victory over New York to move into the first wild card of the Eastern Conference.

Tkachuk scored Ottawa’s first goal just over four minutes into the second and then covered the comeback with a quick shot from the left circle that sailed by goalkeeper Igor Shesterkin’s stick. Ridly Greig and Michael Amadio scored in the last 9:44 of the regulation to help Ottawa move one point ahead of Columbus Blue Jackets.

Artemi Panarin gave Rangers a 3-1 lead by scoring the fourth straight game 7:08 into the third. Carson Souy made 8:37 in the first and Mika Zibanejad made 3:55 into the second, 11 seconds ahead of Tkachuk’s first goal.

Kings 2, Blues 1 (OT)

Quinton Byfield scored the game-winning goal 27 seconds to overtime for Los Angeles, who snapped a five-match losing line with a victory over the visit St. Louis.

Anze Kopitar made for Kings Off Assists from Drew Doughty and Mikey Anderson, whose sticker prevented blues from doing less than a minute into the match. Adrian Kempe helped at Byfield’s other overtime goals for the season, and Darcy Kuemper stopped 19 shots.

Nick Leddy, who missed 45 matches due to a lower bodily injury, registered his first goal of the season. Jake neighbors and Zachary Bolduc earned assists for blues. Joel Hofer made 21 rescues.

Oilers 5, Stars 4

Zach Hyman had two goals and one assist for Edmonton in a victory against visiting Dallas.

Connor McDavid had a goal and an assist, Viktor Arvidsson and Connor Brown also did and Stuart Skinner made 21 rescues for Edmonton, which has won three out of four after a season-long five-game losing line.

Mikko Rantanen had a goal and an assist in his first game with Stars, who had his winning line with four games. Wyatt Johnston, Jamie Benn and Matt Dumba also did and Jake Oettinger made 22 rescues for Dallas in the opener of a four-game road trip.

The Crake 4, Flyers 1

Matty Beniers had a goal and an assistant and goalkeeper Philipp Grubauer made 23 saves for his first victory since December 30 when Seattle defeated the host Philadelphia.

Tye Kartye, Chandler Stephenson and Brandon Montour also counted when the Kraken snapped a two-game losing line. Kartye and Grubauer both made their first NHL performances in more than a month after being recalled from Coachella Valley in the American Hockey League.

Owen Tippett scored Flyers, which fell to 0-3-0 on his seven game home. Samuel Ersson stopped 28 out of 32 shots.

Bruins 4, Lightning 0

The goal Jeremy Swayman broke a personal sex game lost line with its fourth shutdown as Boston, depleted by an active NHL trading deadline, empty Tampa Bay.

Swayman made 26 rescues, including an incredible stop on Brandon Hagel in front of an open cage with 15:40 left, for his 16th career shutdown and first victory since February 4 (1-4-2). Boston won the second time in 10 matches (2-6-2).

In Bruin’s first match since the Trade Captain Brad Marchand on Friday and played without injured defender Charlie McAvoy and Hampus Lindholm, former lightning strike Cole Koepke was twice for his first career Multi-Goal game and Nikita Zadorov escaped an empty net goal. Mark Kastelic scored in his 200th NHL game.

Avalanche 7, Maple Leafs 4

Valeri Nichushkin had three goals for his first career with regular season, Nathan Mackinnon had two goals to reach 100 points for the season, and Colorado gathered with four goals from the third period to beat Toronto in Denver.

Joel Kiviranta and Jonathan Drouin also had goals, Ross Colton and Sam Malinski finished with two assists each and Mackenzie Blackwood made 17 rescues for Colorado. Nichushkin also has a hat trick after the season. He helped at Mackinnon’s empty-net goal at 19:07, which was his 999th career point.

Mitch Marner and John Tavares scored two goals per piece, Auston Matthews had three assists, William Nylander contributed two assists and Anthony Stolz turned 27 shots for Maple Leafs, which has dropped three in a row.

Islanders 4, sharks 2

Jean-Gabriel Pageau had a goal and two assists for recalled New York, who hosted San Jose in Islander’s first match without Brock Nelson, who spent his entire 12-year career with New York before being shared into Colorado Avalanche on Thursday.

Nikolai Kovalenko scored in the second and Will Smith had a goal late in the third for Sharks, who lost for the 19th time in 23 matches (4-16-3). San Jose has 43 points, the smallest in NHL goalkeeper Alexander Georgiev registered 24 rescues.
