Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni, fresh from his first Super Bowl title, said on Monday that he is “grateful” for the team’s collapse late in the 2023 season.

Sirianni made the remarks in the aftermath of Eagles 40-22 disassembly of the twice defeated Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday in Super Bowl Lix.

“I look back on last year and how last year ended and I am grateful. So crazy as this sounds I am grateful for how last year ended because it shaped us into (who) we are today (with) the adversity at the beginning of that year and The hardship through the season, through injuries, through ups and downs, through everything, “Sirianni told reporters in New Orleans.

Eagles was 10-1 on November 26, 2023, after a home victory against Buffalo Bills in overtime. However, the Eagles continued to lose three straight and five of their last six to end the regular season, culminating with a 32-9 loss in Tampa Bay in the Wild-Card round.

“I think that when you embrace adversity, it does something for you, right? It does something for you personally, right?” Said Sirianni. “Every individual on the football team does the hardship for you, and it does something for you as a football team too. So our guys, I think it might be the biggest attribute. They worked with their butts connect.”

When the Eagles began in 2024 season 2-2, it was perceived as a hangover from 2023 when fans and the media opened the heat on Sirianni and the organization.

After a village week, Philadelphia went 16-1 the rest of the way to catch the franchise’s second Lombardi trophy.

“(Only) because the outside world says you feel a certain way doesn’t mean we felt that way,” Sirianni said on Monday. “We knew we had a special team. We knew we had a group of guys who could do special things, but it would take day-in and day-out work. It was just to put your head down and work.”

And the constant message was “tough, detailed together.”

“We talked about it all year,” Sirianni said. “My job is not to inspire them. It’s just more to just remind them of the things they already know, and I keep it really short. I talk a lot during the week so before the game is pretty much consistent. Week 1, week 37 , whatever, we are on “tough, detailed, together.” That’s our core value.
