No. 23 Kansas is in danger of seeing his 80-week line by being ranked in the Associated Press survey, after back-to-back road losses to Utah and BYU.
The Jayhawks will get a chance to correct the ship Saturday afternoon against Oklahoma State in Lawrence, can.
Kansas (17-9, 8-7 BIG 12) changed losses and victories in his previous seven matches that entered the Utah game last Saturday. But with a chance to end that trend with a victory over Ul, Jayhawks followed it with a decisive 91-57 setback on Byu on Tuesday.
The situation becomes rough for the Kansas coach Bill Self. And it was clear at his press conference after the game after the loss in Provo, Utah.
“We have to regroup, get away from each other,” he said. “Many times teams have to get something to happen to pull everyone together that is” us to the outside. “We will have an opportunity to do it safely.
“Many teams go through it. We just haven’t gone through that much at all. All we have is each other, and we have to be strong for each other and be good teammates and good leaders.
These are unknown water for Kansas under the self. The combined 20 losses over the past two years are most people during a two -year period in Self’s 22 seasons at the helm. And there are still five matches left in the regular season, including host no. 9 Texas Tech and No. 19 Arizona which is around a trip to No. 5 Houston.
“I thought Byu could beat someone tonight,” Self said. “They were amazing. And then we did nothing to make them less than good. Many times with teams there must be something (that) happens to pull all together that is us to the outside. And we are we will have an opportunity to do It certainly.
Jayhawks must make things turn against Self’s Alma Mater on Friday.
Oklahoma State (13-13, 5-10) has lost seven straight matches to Kansas and has not won in Lawrence since 2018. The cowboys come from a victory 104-95 over UCF on Wednesday evening in Stillwater, Okla.
Bryce Thompson had a career high 25 points for Oklahoma State, who published its biggest score of the season.
Much of the credit for the large number of points goes to force UCF sales. The cowboys surpassed Knights 20-0 during the first half in points outside sales. The cowboys had 82 possessions in the game, a high number even for roof coach Steve Lutz prefer.
“(That’s) many possessions,” Lutz said after the match. “I have a hard time thinking that we can handle 82 possessions night-in and night out, especially if we are going to play defense that I would like our program to play defense.”
