Dan Piazza earned $ 825,000 after topping a field of 800 records from 623 players to win the 26th Ntra National Horseplayers Championship on Sunday at Horseshoe Las Vegas.
Piazza, 64, a financial advisor from Chicago, held a late cost from the runner Tom Boyd at the final table to demand an Eclipse award as the year’s 2025 horse player.
Piazza prevailed after collecting a mythical bank roll of $ 356.52 over the three -day tournament at Horseshoe. Players tried to earn the highest possible bankroll based on mythical $ 2 win/place bets. There were compulsory assigned competitions on each race day.
Boyd, from New Providence, New Jersey, finished second with $ 342.22 and took home $ 250,000.
Ray Hassan from Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, placed third with a $ 328.36 bank roll and won $ 200,000.
Boyd dragged Piazza with $ 68.90 on the way into the final table, but closed the gap by getting a payout on Tampa Bay’s ninth race and getting $ 36.20. He also earned $ 22 on Gulfstream’s eighth race to inches closer.
Santa Anita’s sixth race was the last race of the event. Piazza and Boyd invested in 7-1 commanders, who ended by the board. Yacowlef, 2-1 second choice, won to preserve the victory for Piazza, who discarded only once in the final table for $ 2.60 on Tampa Bay’s ninth race.
The tournament started Friday morning and aired from 800 items to 80 entries after Saturday. Bank roles gathered during day 1, day 2 and the semi -finals rolled over to the final table, where the 10 finalists competed in seven awarded races.
