Olly Alexander releases debut Solo Album Polari

Olly Alexander has officially entered a new era with the release of PolarHis first solo album under his own name. A shimmering, deeply personal disc, Polar Is the sound of an artist who completely embraces his identity and creative vision.

Described by Dork as “The album Olly Alexander has been waiting the whole pop star to make”The album is an oapological celebration of queer culture, self-expression and synth-driven pop.

A new chapter in olly career

Best known as frontman for year and year, olly decision to release Polar As a solo project, marks a great moment in its decade-exciting career. The album was created in collaboration with the famous producer Danny L. HarleKnown for his futuristic grip on pop music. The couple worked together in a modest East London studio – ironically located near the clubs that shaped Olly’s early years.

Olly said about the album: Olly said: “I post music I love, on my terms, that means something to me.”

A journey through sound and history

Polar Is full of nostalgia but clearly feels modern. Its impact extends from the Euphoric 1980s synth-pop of Depeche mode, deletionand YazooTo today’s club -ready beats. The album has ‘Cupid’s Bow’a discoced tribute to queer nightlife and ‘When we kiss’An electrifying hymne that feels like a lost hit from another time.

A prominent moment comes with Olly’s Eurovision Entry ‘Dizzy’which is full Pet Shop Boys-Style PompFit seamlessly in the album’s Sonic Universe. In the meantime, ‘Make me a man’ was even produced by legendary Vince ClarkeCementation of the album’s deep connection to queer musical history.

The title Polar Paying tribute to the once secret language used by gay men in Britain before homosexuality was legalized. Many words from Polari – for example camps, shady, trade, and kind– Has since become mainstream, just like the themes Olly explores in his music.

Aesthetic perfection

In addition to the album release, Olly has lost a fantastic new music video for ‘Whisper in the waves’directed by Colin Solal Cardo. The video is known for its visually striking work and continues the dream -like, artistic vision Olly has created for this era.
