Olympic master Masai Russell, Grant Holloway adds national indoor titles

Hurdler’s Masai Russell and Grant Holloway, gold medalist at the Paris Olympics, became American indoor national tit lists on Saturday at USATF Indoor Championship 2025 in Staten Island, NY

Holloway has a winning line for over a decade in men’s 60-meters of obstacles, and he matched his fastest time in the world this year in 7.36 seconds. Cameron Murray was next in a personal best 7.41.

Russell captured its first American indoor crown in 60 obstacles with a personal best 7.74, including the world’s best time this year. Grace Stark was second in 7.76.

The two best finishes in most events qualify for the world’s indoor championships 21-23 in Nanjing, China. Holloway has said that he will try to be the first obstacle that wins three straight world’s indoor titles.

Russell instead plans to focus on the outdoor course season in the spring.

Katie Moon, a gold medalist at Tokyo -Sos, won his fifth American indoor pole vault crown by clearing 4.80 meters (15 feet, 9 inches). Gabriela Leon took second at 4.65 meters (15-3).

Chris Nilsen cleared 5.70 meters (18-8 1/4) in men’s pole vaults, with Jacob Wooten others at the same height.

Nikki Hiltz caught the women’s 3,000 driving in 8: 48.28, just before second place Shelby Houlihan (8: 48.43). Hiltz, who does not plan to compete at World Indoor Meeting, will try to win his fifth straight us 1,500 (indoors and outdoors) on Sunday.

Hobbs Kessler captured the men’s 3,000 in a meeting record 7: 38.00, followed by Dylan Jacobs (7: 38.02).

Monae Nichols (22-1) and Claire Bryant (22-0 3/4) were 1-2 in women’s long jump, while Chase Jackson (64-5 3/4) and Maggie Ewen (61-10 1/2) were best in the shot.

Emmanuel Corvera won the men’s 3,000 race walk (11: 57.89) followed by Jordan Crawford (12.00.92). Lauren Harris is the female master (a personal best 13: 23.83), with Maria Michta-Coffee second (13: 33.28).

James Carter won the men’s triple jump at 16.88 meters (55-4 3/4), with Russell Robinson second (16.67; 54-8 1/4). Daniel Haugh is Weight Throw Champion of 25.11 meters (82-4 3/4), with Tanner Berg others at 24.96 (81-10 3/4).
