San Diego Padre’s signed left -handed Kyle Hart, the reigning winner of the Korea baseball organization’s version of the Cy Young Award, through the 2025 season, announced the team on Thursday.
The contract contains a club option for 2026. No financial details were revealed.
Hart, 32, played the 2024 season with NC Dinos of Kbo. He was 13-3 with a 2.69 era and a league best 182 strikeouts in 26 matches (all starts). He went only 38 strokes in 157 rounds.
He was a selection of the 19th round of Boston Red Sox in the MLB draft 2016 and has spent most of his career in the smaller leagues.
During eight seasons in the states he has made four MLB performances (three starts), all with Red Sox in the Covid-affected season 2020. He gave up 19 earned runs in 11 rounds, which led to a 0-1 record and one 15.55 era.
After a quiet season, this is apparently Padre’s second transaction in two days. On Wednesday, the club reportedly signed the right hand Nick Pivetta for a four -year business, $ 55 million.
