New England Patriots released starting linebacker ja’whaun bentley on Friday.
Before the first reports on Bentley’s release were confirmed by the team, he wrote on social media, “New England !! Thanks for everything !! It has been a blessing.”
A three times captain, Bentley played in just two matches last season after maintaining a broken left pectoral muscle.
Bentley, 28, recorded triple -digit tackles totals during their previous three seasons with the team.
A Super Bowl master with New England, Bentley amounted to 509 tackles, 10.5 bags and four forced fumble in 83 career games (68 starts). He was selected by the patriots in the fifth round of the NFL draft for Purdue 2018.
Bentley was scheduled to earn a base salary of $ 4.35 million this season.
