Rangers remain hot at home, swipe angels

Leody Taveras had a two-run single and Adolis Garcia and Corey Seager met Solo Home Runs when Texas Rangers lowered the sinking Los Angeles Angels 5-3 on Thursday to end a three-game sweep in Arlington, Texas.

Rangers won his ninth straight at home and set a franchise record with his eighth victory in a row over Angels. Texas is an al-Best 9-1 at home.

Kumar Rocker (1-2) allowed three runs on five hits over seven rounds for Texas. He knocked out eight and did not give a walk while throwing only 78 seats. Chris Martin knocked out two in one eighth 1-3 before Robert Garcia struck a perfect ninth for his first career rescue.

Texas ends the angels 11-5 with Seager, Dustin Harris and Kyle Higashioca recording two hits.

Jack Kochanowicz (1-2), the first of four Los Angeles jugs, lasted in 4 2/3 rounds and gave up four runs on eight hits with a strike and a walk. No Angels player had more than one hit when Los Angeles dropped his fourth straight.

Los Angeles took its first lead in the series in the first round when Jorge Soller’s two-out single ran in Taylor Ward, who had opened the game with a ground rule double. Rangers answered at the bottom of the frame when Garcia’s one sacrificial fly allowed Marcus Semia to trot home from the third base.

Texas jumped in front for good in the other. Taveras doubled to the right field with the bases loaded, plating Harris and Jake Burger, who reached a single and a hit-by-pitch respectively. Garcia added the lead with a home run to open the third and stocked the lead to 4-1.

The angels cut their deficit for a run in fifth when Luis Rengifo met a two-out, base-loaded single to the left to make Nolan Schanuel and Tim Anderson. Rocker then knocked out Mike Trout with two on to end the threat.

Texas received a key insurance in the seventh at Corey Seagers Solo shot.
