Real Salt Lake scored two goals during the first half and continued successfully to defeat Houston Dynamo 2-1 for a road victory Saturday night.

Diogo Goncalves and Diego Luna punched each in goal to lead the offensive attack for RSL (2-2-0, six points).

Although he earned an 18-10 shot advantage, Houston (0-1-1, one point) could only gather one goal against RSL goalkeeper Rafael Cabral.

Real Salt Lake wasted some time when he found the back of the net.

Goncalves scored their first goal of the season only 43 seconds in the match for a quick 1-0 lead for the visitors.

Luna started the possession with a takeaway to ignite the transition, which included a series of sharp passes. With Dynamo that rushed back, Emeka set up Eneli perfectly Goncalves for the fast strike with a well -positioned centering pass.

Houston responded 15 minutes later to a set. Jack McGlynn placed the ball in the main position for an Ezequiel Ponce heading that leveled the score.

Dynamo seemed to take a lead with a goal a few minutes later, but Amine Bassi’s goal was canceled after a var-review.

Luna set up 2-1 later in the first half and snapped a heading home during stoppage time. Luna, who will join the American national team for Thursday’s Concaf semi-finals, linked to its first MLS goal for the season after redirecting Dominik Marczuk’s left foot pass with a head shot.

The prominent goal came seconds after Luna Hustled to keep the ball alive.

Tempers flared a little just before half time, with Houston’s Franco Escobar and RSL’s Bode Hidalgo, each of which got a yellow card.

Houston dominated the possession during the second half and kept the pressure on the RSL defense, but just could not perform a successful equalization. Cabral made a big late rescue to prevent a heading.

Goncalves’ opening minute goal got RSL for a good start in the season’s first road victory.

Houston only managed to get two shots in goal compared to five for RSL.
