Cincinnati Reds is still looking for a certain texture from their crime on their way into the opener of a four-game series on Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday evening.
The reds followed a 14-run uprising in the series opener to Texas on Monday by losing 1-0 in back-to-back games to Rangers.
“If I thought screams at them would get us a bunch of hits, I would do it right now,” said Red’s first year manager Terry Francona.
Cincinnati brought up 14 meeting-impressive three homers-in 14-3 victory against the visiting Rangers on Monday evening. However, the reds combined only seven hits in the last two games, including one for extra bases.
“It’s time to do our jobs,” Red’s third bass man Jeimer Candelario said.
The left hand Nick Lodolo is planned to take the pile for Cincinnati in the opener of the series.
Lodolo (1-0, 3.00 era) had a solid season opener on Saturday, which limited San Francisco Giants to two runs and five hits over six rounds of a 3-2 victory.
He said he was not happy with the command over his places, but felt more comfortable when the game went.
“I started to set up better when I got my legs under me as the game continued,” Lodolo said. “Even then it’s not how you prepare the command that you think you will put what you want. I just fought.”
Lodolo has made four starts in his career against Brewers and is 1-0 with a 3.38 era.
He will be matched against the second left hand Nestor Cortes, who will look to recover from a tough season opener on Saturday.
Cortes (0-1, 36.00 era) swung for five home races in just two rounds of a 20-9 loss to the New York Yankees, with which he spent the last four seasons.
He gave up eight runs, six hits and five walks on Saturday.
“Of course, I spent a few years over there, and I could be on their side and not have to meet them, but I think this will be the territory to be a Major League can,” Cortes said. “You never know where you will end up and at some point you will meet someone you know, or someone who is close to you, and it just happened to be (Saturday).”
Cortes is 0-0 with a 1.21 era in his lonely career meeting against Cincinnati.
The breweries have hoped back after being swept by Yankees in the season opening series last weekend and then lost the opener of a three-game set against visiting Kansas City Royals on Monday.
Milwaukee won 5-0 on Tuesday and then received another exceptional pitching performance from Starter Freddy Peralta and Tjurpen on Wednesday in a 3-2 victory in 11 rounds.
Jackson Chourio hammered, doubled and singled in the victory against Royals on Wednesday. He has certainly met in five straight matches.
Brice Turang had hit three times and founded with runners on the second and third and no outs in the seventh round of a tie game on Wednesday. However, he came through with a suicide in the 11th to win it.
