Chicago Cubs and the free agent’s right -wing dealer Lynn are in negotiations on one year’s contract, USA Today reported on Thursday.

Lynn, 37, has spent much of his career with Cubs’ Archrival, St. Louis Cardinals (2011-17, 2024) but has also posted for Minnesota Twins (2018), New York Yankees (2018), Texas Rangers (2019-20), Chicago Whit Sox (2021-23) and Los Angels (2023).

Last season with Cardinals he started 23 games and had a 7-4 record with a 3.84 era, threw 117 1/3 rounds and knocked out 109.

The two-time All-Star has a career record of 143-99 with a 3.74 era in 364 matches (340 starts) and threw in 2006 1/3 rounds. He is ranked sixth in that category, as well as in victories, among active jugs. In front of him in each category are three safe Hall of Famers – Justin Verlander, Max Scherzer and Clayton Kershaw.
