Los Angeles Dodger’s right -hand handner Michael Grove underwent seasonal shoulder surgery, according to a report from Athletic on Sunday.
Grove suffered the injury during Game 2 in last season’s National League Division series and missed the rest of the season.
Two weeks ago, Dodger’s manager Dave Roberts told reporters that Grove would not be ready for the opening day.
“Michael is really behind the schedule. He works through some things,” said Roberts. “I see no world where he is ready for the opening day. He must build up.”
Grove was a second round in 2018 after undergoing Tommy John operation in 2017, debuting Grove in 2022 and beating seven matches (six starts) with a 4,60 and 24 strikes.
However, Grove fought in 2023 with a career pile of 6.13 ERA over 18 matches (12 starts). In the first place he switched to the bull.
Last season he beat in 39 games, including 37 relief performances. He published a 5.12 era, a 1,216 Whip and 54 strikes.
Grove’s advanced measurement values rate him higher than his basic statistics. Last season he performed well to break the driving value (79th percentile), Xera (64th percentile) and XBA (74th percentile).
Grove’s slider is his best pitch and earns a +5 driving value last season. His fast ball has an average speed of 94.1 miles per hour but had a driving value of zero 2024.
