Right -wing trader Jackson Jobe, one of the best prospects in baseball, has been given a seat in Detroit Tiger’s starting rotation, reported MLB.com Saturday.
Casey Mize, the total election no. 1 of the MLB draft 2018 which must still fulfill its potential with the tigers, will also be in the rotation.
MLB Pipeline is ranked Jobe as No. 5 The Total Prospectus and No. 2ton Height Open, behind only Roki Sasaki from Los Angeles Dodgers, which still qualifies as a “prospectus” despite their years in Japanese professional baseball.
Jobe, 22, was taken no. 3 Total by the tigers in the draft 2021 from high school in Oklahoma City. During spring training he was 1-1 with a 3.65 era in 12.1 rounds that beat over four starts.
For three seasons in minors, Jobe is 11-12 with a 2.97 era in 58 starts with 261 strikes in 233 rounds. He made two relief performances with Detroit 2024 and gave up a hit in four speechless innings.
Mize, 27, impressed this spring, and published a 1-0 record with a 1.13 era in five matches (four starts), knocked out 18 in 16 rounds.
Mize made only two performances in 2022 and set out the 2023 season due to Tommy John and back surgery. In parts of four major league seasons, his 9-19 is with a 4.36 era in 61 matches (59 starts), including a complete game.
The tigers open the season on March 27 in Los Angeles against the world series Dodgers. For Detroit, the American League Cy Young Award winners will take Haugen.
