Free agent Infielder Jorge Polanco returns to Seattle Mariners, reported several stores.
The athletic clasped Polanco’s contract for one year for $ 7.75 million, and adds it includes a 2026 vest option based on flat performances in 2025.
The sailors had not yet announced the deal, waiting for a physical, from Friday morning.
Polanco, 31, had an offer from Houston Astros, which would have moved Jose Altuve to the outfield and played Polanco at the second base. He is expected to staff the third base for the sailors.
Seattle acquired Polanco in January 2024 through a trading with Minnesota Twins but declined its $ 12 million team option after the season.
He had surgery on October 10 to repair the patellar tendon in his left knee and is expected to be ready for spring training.
In 2024, Switch Hitter set a career low with a .213 Slag average, a .296 base percentage and a .651 OPS in 118 games. He had 16 home purchases, 45 RBI and a .355 sluggish percentage.
Polanco, native of the Dominican Republic, spent his first ten seasons with the twins (2014-23) and was elected to the American League All-Star team as a short stop in 2019.
He is a career .263 Hitter with 128 Homers, 492 RBI, a .330 base percentage, one .435 sluggish percentage and a .765 OPS in 950 games.
