The New York Jets has retained outstanding central Linebacker Jamien Sherwood with a three -year, $ 45 million agreement, according to reports on Sunday evening.
The deal reportedly includes $ 30 million in guaranteed money.
Sherwood was New York’s Team MVP last season when he recorded a career best 158 tackle, including an NFL Best 98 solo stops. He also had two bags while playing in all 17 matches (16 starts).
Sherwood, 25, was a priority for Jets and recently hired Director General Darren Muey and coach Aaron Glenn. The club wanted to sign Sherwood before meeting the free agent market.
Sherwood’s leap in the star was able to spell the end of CJ Mosley’s New York service. Mosley is a candidate released.
Sherwood was a fifth round of picking in 2021 and started only seven games during his first three seasons before making a big step last season.
Overall, Sherwood has 235 tackles in 56 matches (23 starts) during four NFL seasons.
