Following the Minnesota victory over the New York Mets on Wednesday, several media reports indicated that the twins would place sluggish excursion Matt Wallner on the 10-day injured list due to a strained hamstring.
Wallner was injured when he knocked out an Infield single in the first round of Tuesday’s victory over Mets. He was removed from the game and replaced by Dashawn Keirsey Jr., who also started in the right field instead of Wallner on Wednesday.
The 27-year-old Wallner, a native in Minnesota, has played in 18 matches this season, mostly Batting at the management site, although he beat the third or fourth in the lineup in the last three matches.
Wallner beats .263/.373/.474 and his two triples are bound for the Major League lead.
The left-handed striking Wallner usually fights against Southpaws, although he is 3-for-5 with his only Homer vs. Lefties so far this season. For his career, however, he is only 17-before-102 (.167).
In 187 career games, Wallner beats .252 with 30 homers and 91 RBI.
No corresponding Roster movement was indicated, but Minnesota may need to take up two players when Utilityman Willi Castro left Wednesday’s game with oblique density.
The twins are on Thursday before they start a three-game set in Atlanta on Friday.
