Review: Loreen in Transcendent at Eventim Apollo

A shudder of basricochets around Eventim Apollo in the seconds before Loreen arrives on stage, her silhouette threw over the crowd of 5,000 in front of a heavenly white light.

Eurostar Titan has gained a reputation for commanding a space. If it is a small box on the main scene of the competition or one of Britain’s most prestigious arenas, Loreen builds its own worlds.

This is really the case in West London on Wednesday evening. The pop star is something of a siren when she moves the night of action on the attractive “Jupiter Drive”.

This is not a concert, it’s a show. The kind of experience that guarantees to sit down and gap on the production as much as it jumps up and down to the singer’s club hits. The transition from ‘gravity’ to ‘forever’ early on a real triumph of live music.

There are moments when Loreen seems almost too etheric. The club -like “gravity” and sirens of “hate the way I love you” comes with something of a connection with the star world on stage something difficult to penetrate.

Nevertheless, these cases are rare and soon forgotten for “statements”. A monster of a track that few artists could carry, it is a girl to fall in love with live.

Just as Loreen can whip up a storm on stage, she can turn the huge Eventim Apollo into a bedroom confession session as well. This is the case on “I am in it with you”, even if that intimacy is soon crushed by the fireworks for “dreams”.

It is a rather enviable trio of hits Loreen has in its army to close the show with. ‘Euphoria’ comes with a teasing three and a half-minute build-up but is worth every second of that wait.

A Encore comes in the underrated 2023 hit ‘is it love’ and Eurovision 2023 Winning track ‘Tattoo’. It is certainly unlikely that the singing competition will see something so forward at any time soon and “tattoo” stands the test of the time. This is true showmanship.
