Luciano Acosta scored the lonely goal of the match deep into the first half stop to lift FC Dallas to a 1-0 victory over Real Salt Lake on Saturday in a Western Conference match in Sandy, Utah.
Dalla’s home -grown goalkeeper, Michael Collodi, made his first career start and stopped the two shots he met to earn the clean sheet.
FC Dallas (2-2-1, seven points) earned points for the third time this season on the road. They are 2-0-1 on the road and have lost both their home games.
Real Salt Lake (2-3-0, six points) was forced to play the last 67 minutes a man down after Ariath Piol was judged a red card in the 23rd minute for a dangerous game in the midfield.
Toros went right to the attack shortly after with Patrickson Delgado who clinged a shot from the left post in the 26th minute, and Sebastian Letget forced Salt Lake goalkeeper Rafael Cabral in a rescue four minutes later who held the match Scoress.
Cabral came tremendously again in the 34th minute when he pigeon to the left to stop a penalty from Acosta after a foul in the box by Brayan Vera.
Dallas found the net in the seventh minute of the first half stop when Acosta went home a declined crossing card farthest away from Shaq Moore. Moore directed the heading down and to Cabrals right onto the short side of the target while preparing the RSL defender Philip Quinton to let the visitors a 1-0 lead at the break.
RSL’s Lachlan Brook made an attempt to tie the match when he uncorrected a shot in the 72nd minute, but it sailed just over the cross beam.
Dallas charged continued during the second half, but could not increase the lead. Marco Farfan hit the cross beam with a place in the 73rd minute, and the Lletget and TSIKI NTABLEG tested Cabral during the 78th and 80th minute but was rejected.
RSL’s Braian Ojeda had a low percentage shot on targets in the 86th and 89 minutes that required saves from Collodi.
