A backlit keyboard is part of Gear Online video play streamer Jordan Woodruff uses in his Gilbert home. Jordan Woodruff Carolina Royal Raven won six of the seven maps they questioned on Friday while they won two matches in the lower console in Call of Duty League Stage 1 major in Madrid.
After sweating Vegas Falcons 3-0, Royal Raven’s past Optic Texas 3-1 competed to move into the quarter final in the lower bracet. Optic had lined the Los Angeles Guerrilla’s M8 3-2 earlier on Friday.
The other two matches of the day were both in the opening round with a lower console. Minnesota Rokkr edged Vancouver Surge 3-1, and Cloud9 New York eliminated Boston Breach 3-2.
The 12 Call of Duty League team started playing in Stage 1 Major on Thursday, with the sowing was determined by four weeks’ qualified matches. The eight best teams from qualification landed in the upper console in the double-elimination tournament, while the four lower ones were assigned the lower bracket.
All matches are the best out of five until the big final on Sunday, which will be the best of seven.
On Friday, Royal Raven’s Falcons topped 250-161 on Protocol Hardpoint, 6-5 on vault search and destruction and 3-2 on vault control.
Carolina then dropped her first map to Texas, 250-248 at Protocol Hardpoint, before jumping back to claim red card search and destroy 6-3, protocol control 3-0 and Hacienda Hardpoint 250-193.
In its first match of the day, optics fell behind when the guerrillas captured Protocol Hardpoint 250-110, but Texas then won Skyline search and destroys 6-5 and Hacienda Control 3-0. Los Angeles extended the match by winning 250-188 at Skyline Hardpoint, but Optic sealed the series with a 6-2 victory at Vault Search and Destroy.
The over-voltage started by taking Hacienda Hardpoint 250-187, but ROKKR captured the next three maps: 6-3 on red card search and destroys, 3-2 on protocol control and 250-159 at Skyline Hardpoint.
After the infringement claimed Protocol Hardpoint 250-244, CLUD9 captured Skyline search and destroys 6-3 and protocol control 3-0. Boston logged a victory 250-184 at Skyline Hardpoint, but the New York sealed the series by taking a protocol search and destroying 6-3.
Five matches are scheduled for Saturday.

Stage 1 Major is the first of four to be questioned in the CDL season. Optic Texas will host Stage 2 Major in Dallas at the end of March; Miami Heretics will host Stage 3 Major in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, at the end of April; And Stage 4 Major will be part of Dreamhack Dallas at the end of May.
