Bobby Witt Jr. drove in the ongoing driving with a sacrificial fly in the seventh round when Kansas City Royals gathered for a 3-2 victory over the visiting Minnesota twins on Thursday afternoon.
Witt went 2-for-3 with a double, a stolen base and a run score for Kansas City, which took its third victory in the four-game series.
Daniel Lynch IV (2-0) picked up the victory in relief, went one and knocked out two to close the top of the seventh. Carlos Estevez hit a hit batter and a single under a speechless ninth to retrieve his fourth rescue.
For France hammered and Willi Castro and Edouard Julien doubled each one for Minnesota, who suffered their fourth loss in the last five matches. Cole Sands (1-1) suffered the loss, which enabled two runs on two hits over 2/3 of an inning. He also hit a batter and knocked out one.
Royals, held at just three hits in a 4-0 loss to Minnesota on Wednesday evening, jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first round of three consecutive hits. Witt started the rally with a one-out single on the left and advanced to others on a bloop single by Vinnie Pasquantino. Witt then made on a single by Salvador Perez.
Minnesota tied it on 1-1 in the second round when France led with a 411 foot home run to the left field.
The twins went at the top in the sixth thanks to an RBI single by Ryan Jeffers outside the beast John Schreiber, drove in Trevor Larnach, who had gone and advanced to others on a walk by France.
Kansas City, however, responded in the home half of the seventh and plated two runs to jump forward 3-2 against Sands.
After Freddy Fermin was hit by a pitch and advanced to the third on a single by Drew Waters, Jonathan India drove in the first run with a line drive single on the left. Witt accompanied a sacrificial fly to Deep Center to run in water for what turned out to be the winning RBI.
