Haydn McGeary blasted a two-run home run in the eighth round to break a tie and send the values Chicago Cubs to a 4-2 victory over Atlanta Braves in their spring training finale in Mesa, Ariz.
Dansby Swanson went 2-for-2 with an RBI double and Carter Trice also had two hits for the kids. Trice hit an RBI single in the fifth to knot the game at 2-2 and he singled in front of McGeary’s Homer.
Cubs Starter Ben Brown went 4 1/3 rounds and knocked out four while spreading six hits and two runs. Samuel Armstrong (1-0) found sex with just one hit in four speechless innings.
Bryan de la Cruz met a two-run Homer to deliver Atlanta’s runs. Shay Schanaman (0-1) gave up the forward Homer to McGeary.
Twins 5, Rockies 3
Cools Fedko and Jeferson Morales beat back-to-back RBI singles to break a 3-3 tie and host Minnesota continued to beat Colorado in Fort Myers, FLA.
Trevor Larnach met a two-run Homer for the twins, whose starter Chris Paddack knocked out five and gave two runs on two hits and two walks in 3 1/3 rounds.
Hunter Goodman had a two-run for Rockies. Starter German Marquez lasted in 4/3 rounds and gave up three runs on six hits.
Marlins 4, Yankees 2
Matt Mervis and Graham Pauley went deep to deliver Miami a victory over New York in an exhibition game at Marlin’s home ball park.
Max Meyer (1-2) knocked out three and gave up five hits and two runs (one earned) in a five-inning start for marlins. Four relief buds threw a hitless inning.
Cody Bellinger provided Yankee’s runs by hitting a solo -female in the first round and coming home on a throwing error in the fourth. Will Warren (4-1) knocked out six but gave up four runs on five hits and two walks in 3 2/3 rounds.
Royals 3, Rangers 1
Salvador Perez met a tiebreaking two-run shot in the fourth and Kansas City defeated the host Texas in an exhibition in Arlington, Texas.
Perez stood for all three Royal RBI as he drove in Michael Massey on a first inning single. Massey joined Perez to go 2-for-2. Starter Kris Bubic (2-1) found eight in five rounds and gave up one run and five hits.
Jonah Heim doubled in a run for Rangers. Jacob Degrom (1-2) gave up all three royal runs on four hits and a walk in four rounds.
Guardians 3, Diamondbacks 2
Will Wilson doubled at the top of the ninth to flatten Jorge Burgos with the ongoing driving and shoot Cleveland past Arizona in Phoenix.
Kyle Manzardo met a Solo shot for Guardians. Luis Ortiz beat four rounds and spread two runs and five hits, and five relief buds followed with a hitless inning.
Josh Naylor had an RBI single for Diamondbacks. Brandon Bielak gave up two runs over 3 2/3 rounds.
Dodgers 4, Angels 1
Six Dodgers jugs held host Angels to a hit and a run in winning the spring training final for each team in the matchup by the Los Angeles team in Anaheim.
Dodger’s starter Dustin May (2-0), who missed the entire last season due to injuries, beat five rounds and knocked out six. He gave up Angels’ Lone hit, an RBI single by Logan O’hoppe in the fourth round. Will Smith launched his second spring’s home run for Dodgers in the second round.
Angels Starter Jack Kochanowicz (1-2) threw 76 seats in seven rounds. He gave up two runs on two hits and two walks, while he knocked out three. He lowered the spring to 2.79 in 19 1/3 rounds.
Giants 4, Tigers 3
Tyler Fitzgerald met a two-run Homer and got twice worth San Francisco lined up Detroit.
Fitzgerald’s second Homer of the spring came by the Tigers starter Jackson Jobe, who allowed two runs on three hits and two walks in four rounds. He knocked out five. Casey Mize (1-1) went the next three rounds and also handed two runs on three hits. He found seven. The Justyn-Henry Malloy met a Solo-Homer for Detroit.
The Giants starter Jordan Hicks worked five rounds and was accused of two runs on three hits and one walk, with three strikes.
