Spring Training Roundup: Phillies Drub Red Sox in High Scoring Affair

Buddy Kennedy hammered and drove in three runs to help Philadelphia Phillies exceed the host Boston Red Sox 18-8 on Tuesday afternoon in Fort Myers, FLA.

Josh Breaux also hammered while Alec Bohm and Otto Kemp each run in two runs for Phillies, which took up 13 hits.

Ceddane Rafaela had two RBI for Red Sox, who had 11 hits. Boston-Reliever Adam Ottavino recorded just one out in the second round, which allowed six runs on three hits and three walks, part of a seven run that gave Philadelphia a 9-0 lead at the bottom of the other.

The Phillies were 8-for-16 with runners in points, and Boston was 6-for-9.

Orioles 6, Yankees 2

Ryan Mountcastle struck a three-run Homer in the first round to lead, Baltimore visited a New York Split squad in Tampa, FLA.

Colton Cowser and Vimael Machin had two hits in Baltimore’s 11-head attack. Four jugs combined to knock out 12 Yankees.

Paul Goldschmidt had an RBI double and Dominic Smith stroked a driving single for New York. Clarke Schmidt served MountCastle’s blast.

Tigers 3, Braves 1

Jack Flaherty threw four rounds without hit and Thayron Liranzo had a two-run double to lead visits to Detroit past Atlanta in North Port, FLA.

Jace Jung met a Homer in the sixth round outside Brave’s lacquer Dylan Covey to break a speechless tie. Liranzo’s double came on seventh to make it 3-0.

Geraldo Quintero hammered at the bottom of the seventh for Atlanta’s lonely driving. Grant Holmes allowed a hit in five speechless innings for Braves.

Blue Jays 3, Twins 2

Josh Rivera delivered a tiebreaking RBI single in the eighth round to lift Blue Jays over the visiting twins in Dunedin, FLA.

Toronto dragged 2-0 before Bo Bichete met a sacrificial fly in sixth and Daulton Varsho joined a game-binding blast in seventh. Chris Bassitt allowed two hits over 4 2/3 speechless innings.

Jose Miranda clubbed a two-run Homer to Staka Minnesota to the lead. Andrew Morris allowed a hit in three rounds for the twins.

Pirates 9, Yankees 1

Oneil Cruz beat a three-run Homer in a four-run third round to help Pittsburgh rot a visiting New York Split squad in Bradenton, FLA.

Billy Cook hammered earlier in the third for the pirates. Paul Skene beat four rounds for Pittsburgh and gave up a run of four hits while he knocked out five.

Skenes served a Homer to Trent Grisham in the fourth for the Lone New York run. Cameron Schlittler got torch in six runs on seven hits over 3 1/3 rounds.

Astros 7, Mets 4

Jose Altuve delayed a two-run double as part of a five-run seventh inning when hosted Houston gathered to beat New York in Palm Beach, FLA.

Astros hit 4-0 before Brendan Rodgers hit a two-run double in seventh. Altuve later doubled in the inning and Luis Guillorme followed with a pinch-hit single to put Astros forward.

Donovan Walton met a Grand Slam for New York at the top of the seventh. Luisangel Acuna had two of Mets six hits.

Marlins 12, Cardinals 5

Otto Lopez met two of Miami’s five homers when Marlin’s pushed past St. Louis in Jupiter, Fla.

Griffin Conine went 3-for-4 with a homer and four RBI for Miami. Nick Fortis and Matt Mervis also went deep for Marlins.

Jose Barrero had two hits and two RBI for the Cardinals. St. Louis -Starter Erick Fedde allowed six runs and seven hits over four rounds.
