Stanford makes clutch foul shots to keep off cal

Maxime Raynaud broke a tie with two free throw with 32 seconds left, then gathered with Oziyah sales for another three Foul Shots during the last 16 seconds, which allowed Stanford to ward off a raging California rally for a 66-61 home victory on Saturday night.

Raynaud finished with 20 points and a team high eight returns for Stanford (17-10, 9-7 Atlantic Coast Conference). The cardinal swept the season series with two games from the rival Golden Bears (12-15, 5-11) in every first season that competed in the league.

Jeremiah Wilkinson had a team high 19 points and Andrej Stojakovic and played his first match at Stanford after switching to Cal last season, added 16 for Cal, who lost his fourth straight.

After holding Cal to just 12 points during the last 14 minutes of the first half and built an advantage of 47-30 in the eighth minute of the second period, Stanford was in a 61-all-slip when Stojakovic converted a three-point game by 42 seconds left.

Raynaud then pulled his keyfoul 10 seconds later and beat his sixth and seventh foul shot at night.

Stojakovic had a chance to draw Cal even on his next possession but saw a questioned internal bank shot roll off and in the arms at Raynaud, which this time made one of two to complete an 8-before-10 night on the line.

Wilkinson got Cal’s One Final Shot at a draw, but he incorrectly with a 3-point attempt with 4 seconds left. Seller then completed the score with two foul shots.

Sellers finished with 14 points and Jaylen Blakes 10 for Stanford, while Ryan Agarwal, who joined a key 3-pointer with 1:10 left, chipped in with 11 points, a team high eight returns and a heap of play four assists.

Agarwal and Raynaud were the only players in the game that made several 3 points, each with two. Stanford exceeded visitors 21-12 beyond the arch.

Stojakovic completed the game’s only double double with 10 returns for Cal, while Rytis Petraitis matched Game-High Rebound Total while adding six points.

Golden Bears exceeded the hosts 42-35.
