Wade Taylor IV received 17 points and no. 22 Texas A&M dominated the second half in a 66-52 victory over LSU in the Southeastern Conference regular season final Saturday in Baton Rouge, LA.
Henry Coleman III had 11 points and 10 returns and Andersson Garcia added eight points and 10 returns for Aggies (22-9, 11-7 SEK), which started the second half with a 23-5 run on the way to his second victory in a row after a four-game losing line.
Jordan Sears made 21, but only five after half time, to lead the Tigers (14-17, 3-15), who played without leading Rebunder Corey Chest (Foot) and third leading goal scores Vyctorius Miller (ankle) and lost their fifth straight match.
Texas A&M, who defeated to visit LSU 68-57 on January 18, dominated inside, ended with a 42-27 rebounding edge and outscoring LSU in other chance points (17-9) and points in color (34-12).
Coleman scored Aggie’s first six points in the second half and started a 12-2 run that transformed a two-point half-time deficit into a lead of 42-34.
Texas A&M expanded the lead to 16 when LSU went almost 11 minutes without making a field goal.
Sears made a 3-pointer to finish drought and Cam Carter, the team’s leading goal scorer who shot only 2-AV-12 from the floor while scored seven points, followed with another 3 pointer to get the tigers within 10. They came within 10 more times, but did not get any further.
Taylor scored three 3 points and amounted to 11 points to help aggies compete to a lead 19-9. Four tigers combined for nine points and Sears followed eight straight when LSU used a 17-0 driving to take a lead of 26-19.
Solomon Washington made a free throw to end Texas A & M’s scorer in more than six minutes, but Daimion Collins responded with a 3-pointer.
Garcia made a layout for Aggie’s first field goals in seven minutes and they arrived within 32-30 at half time after the tigers made only one field goal in the final 5:38.
