Tate McRae is back, and she wore everything. The Rising Pop Superstar has officially entered its next era with its long -awaited third studio album, So close to whatNow via RCA Records (February 21).

More than just a collection of songs and dance-floor beats, the album is a completely statement-one unfiltered deep dive into the emotional chaos of the young adult age, wrapped in narrow, addictive pop production. Until the release, she built anticipation with viral singles like “It’s OK I’m OK”, which rose to No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Pop Song’s charts and “Sports Car”, which caught fire on Tiktok with over a million creations. But So close to what Is not just a collection of hits – it is a fully realized work that plays as a cinematic journey, which captures both the rush and the wreck of young adult age.

The album leans into collaborations and adds new structures to McRee’s signature sound. While the lively “Bloodonmyhands” feat. Flo Milli shakes things up with a fiery, rap-infused energy that cuts through McRaes typically boring delivery, “I Know Love”, a duet with his boyfriend, The Kid Laroi, offers a more intimate moment -But recording it was not as simple as one can assume.

“It was a really fun process, because I and Laroi never really, who, took each other seriously,” she admitted with a laugh. “You know when you’re in a relationship and you sing around each other, but you don’t really sing? So it was a bit stressful to be in the studio that sang and wrote in front of him, but it was a cool experience to look at him in his process. “

Sonically, the album finds its balance between high -energy confidence and raw introspection, thanks to shimmering pop production from the hit maker such as Ryan Tedder, Julia Michaels, Grant Boutin and Amy Allen. But in its core, So close to what Is not just about love and heart damage-full reflection on growth, self-discovery and the chaos of life in the early 20th century. McRee’s signature wound is still here, but there is a noticeable change in perspective.

Where her previous album Think later was about ruthless decisions and to live in the moment, So close to what Sitting in the messy aftermath – and follows what it meant and who you are once the dust sits. The tension-between nostalgia and reluctant growth, impulsivity and doubt-bleed into every track, from the bold self-insurance of “misses possession” to the eerie, dream-like “rotating door.” The latter music video, directed by Aerin Moreno, visually reflects this theme, captures McRae in a surreal limb, dancing through doors leading nowhere.

With the album out, McRae wasting no time to live it on stage. Her Miss possess Tour Marter of March 18 in Mexico City and takes her through Europe, Canada and North America, with recently added show due to overwhelming demand. When Zara Larsson and Benee join selected dates, the tour shapes up to be one of the biggest pop glasses of the year. She has already given fans a preview with a dynamic performance on The Tonight Show in the lead role Jimmy FallonAnd her upcoming Saturday Night Live Debut on March 1 will only add speed.

Riding the Momentum in her second album Think later—We debuted on No. 4 on Billboard 200 and catapulted her in POP’s upper rank with the smash hit “Greedy” –So close to what Feels like Tate McRe’s most self -assured era yet.

In just 21, she has already collected billions of streams, several platinum hits and high-profile collaborations, but this album feels like a crucial moment-that proves that she is not just a hit, but a cornerstone. With So close to whatMcRae not only knocks on the door of Pop Superstardom – she tear it from its hinge.
