After a battle along the boards in the extra session, Shane Pinto passed the puck to Chabot alone in the track, and Chabot beat Charlie Lindgren for the winner.
Washington’s Alex Ovechkin scored Career Goals No. 876 to pull within 19 from passing Wayne Gretzky for first place all the time. He added two assists to go with his 23rd goal of the season.

Greig gave the senators a lead of 1-0 at 4:08 in the second period when David Perron’s centering pass declined in his foot during a power play.
McMichael finished an 11-game target dryer and banded the game 1-1 at 7:43 of the other and scored on a wrist shot near the right post from a pass from Pierre-Luc Dubois.
Ottawa’s Travis Hamonic took a hook penalty at 17:24 in the middle of the middle period, but the game soon turned in favor of the senators.
Norris was taken down by Washington’s John Carlson on a short-handed interruption and converted the penalty shot at 17:37 to give Ottawa a 2-1 lead.
Pinto scored it 3-1 with a short-handed goal at 18:15. Pinto entered the zone two-on-one and transferred to Norris, who was robbed by Lindgren before Pinto put rebound in the open network.
Strome pulled the capital within 3-2 at 7:58 from the third period and scored a power-play goal on a wrist shot from the right circle.
Sanderson increased the lead to 4-2 at 10:38 by the third and made a shot through traffic from the point during a Power Play.
