Sophia Wilson, a forward for Portland Thorn’s and US Women’s National Team, said she is pregnant with her first child.
She and her husband, Arizona Cardinal’s broad recipient Michael Wilson, published the news on on Wednesday.
“Life just gets sweeter,” she formed a photo of the couple where she holds a series of ultrasound scanning images.
The couple got married in January.
Sophia Wilson, then known as Sophia Smith, won a gold medal with the US at the Paris Olympics last August, her 24th birthday. She was the most valuable player in National Women’s Soccer League 2022 – the youngest in league history – when Thorn’s won the league title.

With the national team, Wilson has 58 caps. Last season with Thorns she had 12 goals and six assists in 20 games. She was appointed at the first team Best XI.
Wilson did not mention what the duration of her maternity leave would be. According to the landmark collective agreement signed in September, players are granted six months fully paid leave with contract protection.
Thorns opens the 2025 season on March 15 on the road to Kansas City -Ström.
