The Detroit Tigers Center Fiewery Parker Meadows remains out due to a nerve problem in his throwing shoulder and can’t throw another ball for four weeks.
Manager AJ Hinch told reporters Saturday morning that Meadows can participate in non-throwing exercises, including running, light batting and fields.
“If we can use that time for all other parts of his body, we hope it’s an advantage,” Hinch said, according to Detroit Free Press. “Because he is not switched off anything else. It is strictly about the castle.”
Meadows suffered from the damage in the first game in spring training on February 22 and has been lately led.
The most recent Hinch update came after Meadows had additional medical testing.
“There is no harm to the nerve, which is encouraging,” Hinch said. “But not all meetings have big news. It does not shoot at the level we need to move on.”
According to the free press, Meadows will not require surgery.
The 25-year-old Meadows beat .244 with nine home races and 28 RBI over 82 matches for Tigers last season.
