Kerry Carpenter blasted his third home race in two days and drove in two runs when the host Detroit Tigers lowered the visiting Chicago White Sox 7-2 on Saturday afternoon.
Spencer Torkelson delivered a solo -female and Riley Greene had two hits while he did one run and hit another. Justin-Henry Malloy did two runs and drove in another when Tigers won for the fourth time in five games.
The Detroit Starter Reese Olson (1-1) allowed 10 Baserunners in six rounds but only gave up two runs while they recorded five strikes. Beau Brieske struck a speechless inning and John Brebbia ended with two speechless frames.
Andrew Vaughn had an RBI double for White Sox and Korey Lee contributed three hits and one run. Starter Davis Martin (0-1) was tagged for all seven runs on nine hits in five rounds when Chicago lost his fourth straight.
White Sox gathered a run in the first. Luis Robert went and Andrew Benintendi advanced him with a single. Vaughn’s one-out double hit Robert but Olson escaped further damage with a strike and foundation.
Detroit was moving forward at the bottom of the inning. Malloy led with a double and moved to the third on Carpenter’s long flight. Greene singled to court to take him home.
A Torkelson double moved Greene to the third. After a strike, Andy Ibanez Infield made single Greene.
Detroit made it 4-1 with two out in the other. Malloy went for a walk before the carpenter pulled a Martin height over the right field wall.
The tigers added three runs in third place. Torkelson led with a Homer to the left. Colt Keith went, Ibanez was hit by a pitch and Jake Rogers singled to charge the bases. Trey Sweeney’s Fielder-Election Grounder got Keith and Malloy’s sacrificial fly drove in Ibanez.
Chicago made it 7-2 in the fifth. White Sox loaded the bases with two singles and a walk, and Lee scored on Robert’s doubles.
