Anthony Edwards scored 25 points on 10-for-15 shooting, and Minnesota Timberwolves retired for a victory 141-124 over San Antonio Spurs on Sunday evening in Minneapolis.
Naz Reid added 20 points on 8-for-15 shooting from the Bench for Minnesota, which won its fifth match in a row. Julius Randle flirted with a triple double with 14 points, 10 assists and seven returns, and Donte Divincenzo made 17 from the bench.
De’aaron Fox scored 22 points on 8-for-12-shooting, including 4-for-6 beyond the arch, to lead San Antonio. Harrison Barnes contributed 15 points for Spurs, which lost for the seventh time in the last nine matches.
Timberwolves shot 55.8 percent (53 out of 95) in total and 50 percent (21 out of 42) from 3-point intervals. The spurs shot 55.3 percent (47 out of 85) from the field and 36.7 percent (11 out of 30) from long distance.
San Antonio struggled to keep up with the route. Bismack Biyombo and Sandro Mamulashvili made back-to-back shot to pull Spurs in 129-111 with 4:28, and Nickeil Alexander-Walker responded quickly with a layout to extend the lead back to 20.
Minnesota ended the third quarter with the lead 109-94.
Devin Vassell made a 3-pointer to pull Spurs within 94-88 with 3:24 left in the third quarter.
Reid made a turnaround that shot 21 seconds later to increase the advantage of the memorial to 96-88. It started a 15-6 driving for Timberwolves to end the quarter.
Jaylen Clark made a 3-point with 0.8 seconds left in the session to help Minnesota.
Timberwolves led 68-60 in half.
Minnesota led by as many as 14 points before half time. Mike Conley dropped a 3-pointer to put Timmerwolves on top 52-38 with 7:53 to go before the break.
The spurs drew within five points when Fox made a 3-pointer to reduce the deficit to 65-60 by 32.2 seconds left in half.
At the next possession, Reid made a 3-pointer to increase the memorial lead to eight.
